Solved Installed but my wifi not recognised

Open an elevated cmd, pwsh or terminal session type and post the output of
Code:
netsh wlan show filters

Also confirm in your router settings which modes are enabled (2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and/or 6Ghz)
Then from device management, right click your WLan adapter and go to properties
Under advanced you will have settings (these will vary by manufacturer) look for ones with similer 2.4,5,6 channel names or something that lists out wireless protocols such as 802.1a/b/g/n/ac etc and post what those are

I'm just really happy I've got Windows 11 running on it :-) It's quite an old laptop but it's really nice - lovely screen and very fast. It'll be kept as a spare family laptop though as the hinges are very slightly wobbly and the charger socket is slightly fragile too - having been replaced once already. So not for daily use.

Go here and download the zip file. Releases · lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer

Unzip it and run it. It will find all your drivers, and give you the option to delete superceded drivers.

From its file menu select export all drivers.
Thanks but I remembered this tutorial - it worked for me before - with some help from others on Ten Forum on how to do it properly. It's what I should have done last time with this laptop! But I only installed 11 to try it out on it three years ago.

Actually that does look a lot easier :-) I've downloaded it from Major Geeks. It says it's portable. Does that mean it won't actually install or does it mean I have to run it from usb?

Actually it was Double Driver I downloaded. Glaskutter mentioned it on here. Is DriverStoreExplorer any better?

I don't know which is better. You just run the exe file, it does not install, so remember where you saved it.

Used the Double Driver one and it seems easy to use and fine. I've saved it on my "tools" usb stick :-) It just saves the non microsoft ones by default, which is good as those are the main ones needed. Although there's an option to save the microsoft ones as well. Thank you for the tips.

Update. It just needed the later wifi driver installing to find the wifi. Nothing else. Makes sense really! I reinstalled Windows 10 temporarily and had the same issue of it not finding our wifi - so it seemed to need the later driver update to see the wifi 6 router. So at least I know in future it just needs the driver update. Which I now have saved so was able to install it easily.

Thanks for the recommendation - it's good to know which wifi card I could get. It certainly would make life easier if I ever have to reinstall again. Although the laptop is very old and although it's all in tact and works very well (and has a lovely screen), the hinges are slightly sensitive. So I'm not sure I want to spend anything on it. Although there is a used one on ebay for about £12.

I do have a system image of it all installed with all drivers now though so hopefully wouldn't need to do a clean install again.

Not much to reinstall just uninstall current drivers before removing old card, new card will receive initial drivers automatically through windows update. You can then update to latest from Intel directly. Only thing to be careful with is the two aerial connectors, they are very delicate and last but not least fingers crossed HP Bios is not using a whitelist for “allowed” replacements.

Good question! You'd still need to install the drivers first. Although I assume with a clean install, windows would have the drivers to start with.

You could always use the Ethernet to USB adapter to get the updates. Most are plug and play.

Windows 11 has initial drivers for AX200 on board.
Not only that but you could also just download the latest driver's from Intel prior to removing the old card.
