Hello friends, I am hoping you may all help me with this issue.

I recently built this PC and have been plagued with game crashes but also this particular BSOD. To rule out it being a RAM hardware issue, I have ran the following memory testing tools and all of them returned 0 errors:

Window memory diagnostic tool
Memtest 86
TechPowerUp Memtest64

I am 90% certain it is not a hardware issue but the fact that these sticks are not on my MB's compatibility page makes me not be completely 100% certain. I did in fact have them overclocked to 6000 (they are rated for 6200) but I have since removed the OC but the errors persist.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Please enable Driver Verifier using these instructions: BSOD - Driver Verifier Instructions

Please do not enable any other settings other than those mentioned in the tutorial, especially "Low Resources Simulation", the reasoning is also mentioned there as well. I would also recommend disabling NordVPN for troubleshooting purposes, it is known to cause crashes and one of the BSODs was during a TCP timeout.

I'm sorry, I am not sure what Tune up plus or disk par info is. Couldn't find anything on it on the interwebs. Attached is the disk management screenshot. Running the HD tune tests now. I went ahead and updated the BIOS as well. I just checked that last week. LOL. I'll run the check disk tonight.

The Sea Tools long generic test can run at the same time as HD Tune full error scan.

(Best on different drives but can run on the same drive)

Test all drives.

I have no idea. Isn't it supposed to create that on it's own when Windows gets installed? I see that the C drive has a bunch of partitions. Its not one of those?

None of the recovery partitions were enabled.

Were you using a bootable Windows 11 Media Creation Tool?

Were you using WDV?

I used a win 10 22H2 bootable and then I upgraded to Windows 11 via the updates.

There are times when a computer using Windows Driver Verifier (WDV) has BSODs and fails to boot into safe mode.

For risk management it's best to know the status of the recovery options before using WDV.

I have a back up image freshly created with the tool EaseUS Todo Backup. This is a freshly built PC. I don't have anything on it important that isn't backed up. If the OS poops out on me its not a big deal to have to reload it if say the image turns out to be corrupted.

For this new computer the logs reported possible BIOS and drive problems.

Was this a new or old drive?

Was there a power outage after the new Windows installation?

Those index records are not indicative of disk problems, they're completely normal and be ignored. The event log entry is even a information event and not an error. I wouldn't worry about the other event log entry either.

Does the Nord Security include any programs other than Nord VPN? It is most likely the issue here but unfortunately I can't guarantee that Driver Verifier will "catch" anything. Let's keep it running for a little while longer because of the disk checks will have meant it hasn't had a opportunity to run properly.

The new Windows installation was on 08/19/2023.

The drive file system corruption was reported 3 days later on 08/22/2023.

The drive file system corruption was reported the next day on 08/23/2023 and was more complex or worse.

These are reported as informational events.

They should be addressed as they are reported as drive file system corruption can impact the operating system and registry files.

Drive file system corruption is abnormal especially after a fresh Windows installation.

Once you've addressed the BIOS > upgrade already performed

and addressed the drive file system (chkdsk switches pending) > monitor the computer for stability / instability

It was premature to use WDV before addressing the reported problems in the log files.

WDV has now been reset.
