Solved Is it possible to recover the boot files after the EFI system partition was formatted?


Obviously, Mr. Zhang should back up the existing EFI system partition before taking any actions.

Sounds like you might be using linux grub. There is a bootable tool that should be able to add your windows partition to the boot menu.

It is years since I was dual booting windows and linux. This worked well then, it is more recent version now obviously. Worth a try.

Probably the easiest way is simply to use a Windows install media, boot from it, choose repair system --->command prompt. Then simply re-create the boot loader via bcdboot.exe. There's examples all over this forum on how to do that. (I assume it's Windows boot you need to recover).

There are many different types of english which can differ between British English, Australian English and even American English which varies depending where it is. Similarly, even thiugh you, me and Mr. Zhang are all Chinese. You and Mr. Zhang would understand even in Chinese what was said and I would not while I can say something in Chinese that both you and Mr. Zhang would not understand because the two of you speak Mandarin which is written the same way it is said while I speak Cantonese which is different spoken than written and even in writing, the terminology used is different similar to Mandarin, it's called Sweet Soup but in Cantonese, it's called Sugar Water or even for ice cream which is basically the word ice in english and pronounciation of the word cream while in Cantonese, it's Ice and then something that is a thick liquid. Similar to just saying tomato sauce which in British/Australian english means Ketchup in American English but Tomato Sauce is a sauce made from tomatoes in American English but atleast Play should mean it's something good and not bad since not coming back could also be said that's a stopper or show stopper.

It’s a phrase we use too, at least in U.S. English. Simply means that there may be a way to accomplish something given the variables/circumstances in play for a given situation. Pretty sure anyone speaking any dialect of English understands the gist of it.

If I were Mr. Zhang, I would have written "a glimmer of hope" rather than "a play" in this context.

I actually never heard that term before as I would think a play is some type of acting related to theater or playing in sports so regardless, I still learned something new.

Hi there
Do pedestrians have to walk sideways on US American sidewalks. In non US English speaking countries the "footpath" or where pedestrians go is usually on the side of a road is mostly known as the pavement == while in the US I think the pavement actually means the kerb at the side of the road. Similarly I'd imagine US visitors to London would not understand why two of the oldest and most famous malls in London (The Mall, and Pall Mall) have no shops in them.

Language evolves over time with regional differences - not just accents !!.

朋友们，我是这样修好我的efi的。
我首先在我的U盘里面安装了老毛桃WinPE系统，然后用它启动。
在WinPE里面，我修复了efi。好像老毛桃的这个小系统自带了修复工具，我猜如果朋友们用bootbcd之类的代码也能修复。
但是此时，我重启系统，进入UOS Linux系统的那个选择系统的界面，好像是什么grub之类的，还是不显示windows boot manager。
于是，我又安装了上面#18楼的朋友提出的boot-repair-disk，同样地，我把它安装在我的U盘里面启动，它是一个小型的Linux系统吧我估计。然后在里面再点击一次修复efi。
这回再重启，我的grub里面就出现了windows boot manager了。


Ladies and gentleman, this is how I fixed my EFI.
I first installed the Lao Mao Tao WinPE system on my USB flash drive and then booted it up.
In WinPE, I repaired the EFI. It seems that this small system of Lao Maotao comes with a repair tool. I guess if you use code like bootbcd, you can also repair it.
But at this moment, when I restart the system and enter the system selection interface of the UOS Linux system, it seems to be something like GRUB, but still does not display the Windows boot manager.
So, I installed the boot-repair-disk proposed by the friend on #18 floor. Similarly, I installed it on my USB drive to boot from. I guess it's a small Linux system. Then, I clicked on "repair EFI" again inside it.
After restarting this time, the Windows Boot Manager appeared in my GRUB.
