Anyone know what I might have done to disable the ability to click add new types and then find by date and set that etc?

I use startallback.

Also, when I was able to do this, it would always reset even on the same folder, and I'd have to do it again. It's bad enough that when you select a new type it doesn't sortbby that automatically so you have to do the whole right click fiasco again.

Ugh.

"Launch Command Window" is not a default item in the context menu. It must have been added by something.

I change to detail and add date etc, but every time a popupmenu comes up to select filers it's all reset. like if I tried to attach one now.
