Ummm mine doesn't look like this but WU says it was successfully installed? What is going on here?

As I've posted before, I have no idea why I've never had neither the Microsoft Update Health Tools folder nor the updates.

Yes that's nice to know but I am really looking for an answer as to why this is not what I am seeing as per the MS Release Notes.

You can easily see if it installs or not by uninstalling using Control Panel > Programs and Features and then install using the downloaded file and check Control Panel > Programs and Features

So until they fix the download link, we will never see v5.0.70.0 which consists of the April 3, 2023 dated files. Windows Update seems to only show v5.0.70.0 for some people and v5.0.69.0 for others. Microsoft Updated Catalog when searching for KB4023057 seems to only show versions even older than v5.0.69.0 with the latest from May 2021.

I actually uninstalled mines on July 23, 2023 as the manual install will only do v5.0.69.0 but for a required component, it still never reinstalled itself as of December 4, 2023 which is 4 months and 11 days as Control Panel > Program and Features does not show it. So I used the manual install on December 4, 2023 to install v5.0.69.0 again and will see if it actually gets updated over time. Would have been a lot easier if they kept the manual updated version up to date.

Can you smoothly update your device without the update health tools？
Did you get any problem at updating？
I worry about that because I accidently unistall it last week.

Yes, never had problems with it uninstalled. But as of today, the one I manually installed on December 4, 2023 still has not updated yet.

The Update Health Tools only come into action if you are getting low on disk space, they may temporarily compress some of your files to make more room while updates are being installed. Provided you have plenty of free space (say, more than 32GB) then you will never need them.

Yes, some people seem to get the update while others didn't as one can manually install it but problem is Microsoft never updated past the December 19, 2022 version of the files at Download Update Health Tools from Official Microsoft Download Center which is v5.0.69 and until Microsoft decides to automatically update or update the download there is no other way to update past that version.

Have a question, in Services, is "Microsoft Update Health Service" supposed to be disabled? If not, what is the Startup type supposed to be? I wonder if the type being Disabled has anything to do with not getting the updates.

I looked at another computer I recently bought which is a Acer Aspire 3 running the latest Windows 11 24H2 Preview and the it does not even have a "Microsoft Update Health Service" listed.

This is mine, and it's "disabled" in Services. I don't remember if I disabled it, or if I manually installed it or not.

I always keep plenty of disk space on my Windows partition...

@Ghot - Already tried that and I manually installed and uninstalled. The problem is the manual update is still the December 19, 2022 version of the files which is what it will install as Microsoft never updated it. See my previous comments on this and you will see that the problem is many people have not gotten the newer versions. If you visit the Microsoft Download Center, you will see the files were released on Ferbruary 2023 and these are what's current but not available for download everywhere else as KB4023057: Update Health Tools—Windows Update Service components - Microsoft Support will tell you:

It does not list the version # itself but the file dates are different.

I don't have low disk space either as I run everything from C: which is a SSD

As for activity, how is that measured? As for the OP's screenshot, you do realize where that screenshot came from right?

which was written as of February 2023 when the December 19, 2022 was the current version of the files. Until Microsoft makes the manual update with the newer than 5.69 version, no one will get the updated version unless you already got it, not sure what the conditions need to be to trigger it.

And for about 2 years, released a new update with the same KB number... about once every other month.

Then, in 2023 they just stopped releasing that update or changed the KB number.

If you haven't done any In-Place Upgrades (which seems to erase your update history),
then you should see a ton of KB4023057's.

Yes, but not many people got the new version or we wouldn't have this thread of people that didn't. Well, KB890830 has been out for atleast the last 24 years and also a new release comes out monthly. They did not change the KB number as you basically have the September 2023 version of the files which is the latest or 5.72, compare your file dates to the ones in my screenshot and it will match exactly. 5.69 is what the manual installer will install and that file never got updated.
