Highlights​

  • This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Improvements​

This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5028254 (released July 26, 2023). When you install this KB:
  • This update makes miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality. No additional issues were documented for this release.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.2061​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update​

IT adminsUsing provisioning packages on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) might not work as expected. Windows might only be partially configured, and the Out Of Box Experience might not finish or might restart unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files which are used to help configure new devices for use on business or school networks. Provisioning packages which are applied during initial setup are most likely to be impacted by this issue. For more information on provisioning packages, please see Provisioning packages for Windows.

Note Provisioning Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.

Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.		If you can provision the Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2, this will prevent the issue.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

But, you aren't using any apps to alter the size of your icons are you?
I can have the icons from SAB as small as in your pic from 1992 if I want
and the spacing even closer. I use the XL because I Hate wearing glasses
while on the PC.

Yeah, mine installed without a hitch - but I have a secret.

Over this past weekend, I did yet another clean install of Windows 11 - because I wanted to test the thing that Thio James mentioned about the language used to install Windows cutting a lot of bloat.

It sure did!

But, I cleanly installed using a 22621.2070 ISO from UUPDUMP, so it had nothing in the way to install these new updates. So Mine updated flawlessly on its own to 2134.

When you first go to install Windows, the blue-ish screen with the Language, locale and keyboard (step 5 in our Clean Install tutorial) - that is the place where you can select English (world). Thio's video shows it fine, but the article doesn't really make it clear, so I recommend watching the video.

Some apps were still installed, but the majority of the nonsense is not there - and you can then change the language after installation.

Additionally, you can add your locale's Local Experience pack (again EN-us for me, shared below):

When I first read about it I was like "It can't be that easy."

But I've watched other Thio vids, and he's usually spot on - so I thought WTH - lemme try.

Hum, this update worked for the most pas=rt but along came two driver updates, Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - MEDIA - 6.0.9391.1 and Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Extension - 6.0.9511.1 that removed my headset input. All else was okay, so I put the older version back and it worked. Oh, it was for my Dell 3510 laptop.

For some reason, Microsoft thinks they're better at coding driver updates than the hardware manufacturers.
Many times... this causes driver corruption.
It's best just to block driver updates included in Windows Updates.

Ofc, this means that you'll have to check the DELL website (in your case), for driver updates every few months or so.
DELL should have a utility that will check DELL's website for any necessary driver updates, for your laptop.


If you can't find a utility to do it... DELL has a website that can do it also...
