Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.994 (KB5039304) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100).

This update includes the following features and improvements:
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC). It fails to verify the policies of some apps.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects WDAC. It reports a certain class of its policies as not active or not authorized.
  • This update addresses an issue that might cause DWM.exe to stop responding.
  • This update brings Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles up to date for certain mobile operators.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Unified Write Filter (UWF). Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) API calls to shut down or restart a system throws an access denied exception.
  • This update addresses an issue believed to be the underlying cause of some Insiders noticing stutters in some animations recently (dropping frames), particularly with Task View.

I know the Bree but look at all of the builds that are labeled 24H2 . This list does not include 26100.994 that is out there. The Fact that 24H1 never existed is also adding to it, and they are updating non insiders to it is well for those that have that option to get the latest builds.

Got it as an optional update as a non-Insider without turning on ' Get the latest updates as soon as there available '. Small nuance, but it helps add clarity to how the 24H2 26100 updates/builds are being rolled out.

Oops! Mistake on my part. It's the new version of Winget (1.8.1791). There are a bunch of MSIX\Microsoft and ARP labeled programs listed that I've not been seeing. Have no idea why they are included since none of them can currently be upgraded or even installed by Winget. The first time I saw it was right after I'd installed this CU, so thought that caused the strange Winget list entries.

No problem here with Spotlight on build 26100.1000, I am in the US.
I tried connecting to Sweden with VPN, and spotlight still worked, but the images are already saved.
No idea what will happen when it has to renew the images. 🤷‍♂️
If you have VPN, try connecting in the US and see what happens. 😉

I want to update my only PC to 24H2 as it has many improvements over 22H2 and 23H2.

24H2 has already been available for ARM systems, and it's in RP for x64 systems.

I'd like to know if it's stable enough to install on a production machine, but my worry is the drivers compatibility, especially for the antivirus (I use Malwarebytes).

I've been using the RP for a while now on about a dozen or so machines. It has been 100% stable for me.

What drivers are you concerned about? I'm not aware of the need for any change in drivers on 24H2 vs 22H2 or 23H2.

As far as AV software goes, the typical suggestion for upgrading to a new major version is to first uninstall the AV software, upgrade, reinstall the AV software.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

Welcome to Eleven Forum Nicola.

I have the luxury of having more than one machine, so I have plenty I can play with try out the latest builds on.

I would never upgrade my production machine(s) to an Insider build, even the RP one. But I am also eager to try out 24H2 on them, to see what (if any) issues it may bring. I use Macrium Reflect to make regular system images, so for my System One in My Computers below I have restored its system image to a .vhdx virtual disk file so that I can leave its RTM 23H2 untouched, but dual boot to a clone if its system that I have upgraded to RP 24H2. So far it has proved completely stable, there are no driver issues, and all my software works as well in 24H2 as it does in 23H2. I don't however use any 3rd-party AVs, I find Microsoft's Windows Security to be all I need.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine.
I understand that 23H2 was last year's final version and 24H2 will be this year -- but there must be a half-dozen or more 24H2 versions ongoing.

I'm currently running a Beta version -- 23H2 -- and looking to decide WHICH 24H2 to switch to -- RP, Dev, Canary, or Copilot+.

I have been thinking of switching to RP (Release Preview) but I see the the RP and Copilot+ builds have the same build number.

I have Copilot disabled on my 23H2 install, so Copilot+is probably not the best choice, but apart from it having Recall (which might not be disabled), is it the same as the RP build of the same number?

Is there a write-up or tutorial here that explains the difference between all these different Windows 11 builds?

I can't answer most of your questions, but I have found the 24H2 26100.1000 (RP) build solid and stable, and quite a few other members here who are running it have said roughly the same thing. It's a good build. Oh, and there is no Recall problem with it (yet), and Copilot is included as an app, and can be uninstalled very easily, if you wish. I've left it installed and available, but I almost never access it.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

Of course. That's why you won't see anything in DEV or CAN builds.

Do you never use the translation feature in Edge or Chrome? (Not that it was needed when the file was still available. There was just the one file.)

Deskmodder.de is a good website for downloads, especially for those that don't want to go the UUP dump route in the event they're not yet available from MS.

easiest way is simply to install windows to vhdx files (physical - not mentioning Virtual Machines) and then you can run as many editions as your devices are capable of handling.

(To install from ISO simply use dism /Apply-Image with the index nr the windows build you want (so when downloading say from UUPDUMP add the extra editions into the iso creation process) - After the /Apply-Image step has completed install the bootloader to the EFI partition voa bcdboot.

Plenty of instructions on the Forum on how to do this.
