Didn't work, it failed and went with "undoing changes made to your computer", same issue I had when I was trying to update from 23H2 to 24H2 and only made it work after removing all non-essential devices.

There is definitively some device on my PC that 24H2 doesn't like and is prob failing this update too.

Logs always complain about CBS:

If I have windows.old files, I use a Powershell cleanup command. It disappears after reboot. Use in Admin mode.

I'm not sure if I'll even worry about this problem. It seems to be widespread.
This is the sfc /scannow message I get.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Looks like I don't get the error anymore, I ran the suggested command from post #32 after booting from an Installation media.
I used the one for 27729.1000 that I had handy.

After that I rebooted and tried online again.
No more error: 6824.

It still shows 2 Reclaimable Packages. No idea why. I think there is still something fishy.

The preview update today, fixed the SFC problem, mostly fixed the Disk Cleanup problem.
But... it caused a lot of DISM problems for a lot of folks.

I'm running DISM... RestoreHealth for the first time... right now.
It's been stuck at 62.3% for over 15 minutes. LOL

Just went to 100%, and hasn't done anything else yet.

Just completed successfully...

Just ran it again. It completed successfully in about a minute or minute and a half.

Hindsight... it makes sense. If "transactions" with the Component Store are making DISM... StartComponentCleanup, error...
then the command should be run "outside" Windows.

I used the Macrium bootable media. It has a built in Command Prompt.

If your drive is C: then you want this.

DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

or

DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase

The dism /image:c:\ /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup commmand worked for me from Advanced Startup option at Settings >> System >> Advanced startup >> Restart now >> Boot from Command Prompt option.

At reboot follow this tutorial (option two) from @Brink . I didn'need to boot from a USB.
