Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4660 (KB5048808) to the Beta Channel.

Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. For more information, see the Reminders section at the bottom of this blog post.

  • Fixed a few issues impacting File Explorer performance and reliability.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel​

  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first.

Windows 11's About settings page is getting new top cards that highlight key specs such as storage, graphics memory and RAM.

(Yes, these cards are the same ones seen in Windows 10's redesigned About settings page in recent Insider CUs.)

To enable the new top cards in Beta 22635.4660, run vivetool /enable /id:51784082,54618938 and reboot.

    This replaced my Linux Notebook. I've used Windows since V2, tried various Linux distros but Windows continues to win for me.
Updated without issues even though it took two attempts, the first one timed out downloading. The second attempt a few minutes later was fine.

IMHO, never, or at least, not until 23H2 reaches EoL. I believe there will be a continuing need to beta-test stuff for 23H2 while it is still in support.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

You answered the question I was going to ask -- why the WIn11 Beta is still 22635. I was expecting it in 2025 to switch to something between 26100 and 26120 -- but I see now why that is not going to happen.

Looks like there is a side effect, with this feature enabled there is a significant delay on closing file explorer.
I had to remove the feature ID to eliminate the problem. 🤷‍♂️
