 Windows message center:

Current status as of January 21, 2025

Windows 11, version 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, is now broadly available.

Starting this week, we are expanding this latest Windows version’s phased rollout. We are gradually offering this update also to eligible devices running Windows 10, version 22H2.

If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check if the update is available by selecting Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install Windows 11, version 24H2.

Devices running Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, versions 23H2 and 22H2 that are not managed by IT departments will receive the update automatically. Users can choose the time to restart their device or postpone the update.

For Copilot+ PC devices, new features will continue rolling out in phases to select devices and markets in the Windows Insider community. Note that availability may differ based on the various silicon platforms.

We will regularly share more information on the Windows 11 2024 Update rollout on this page.

Hi all so I updated to the latest version of windows and these are my problems and fix's so far.
Once Windows 11 24h2 was installed I always rename the file mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll, as i want to use my motherboard codes. doing so windows went in to a repair loop and would not restart or go in to safe mode, Sfc repair the file yet still no luck. there is a fix for out there just I did not do. I reinstalled windows to find the issue was rename the file mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll.
But a fix is rename that file mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll to mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll and vise versa mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll to the mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll. No more windows auto repair loop and that problem sorted.
Next issue was my WD cloud storage seemed to be capping at 100mbs yet should be around 800mbs. after a lot of playing around I did find some info and the issue is with older storage devices, windows is encrypting the files hence the problems above the fix was creating two new reg entry's.
this removes local network encryption for older devices.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters]
"RequireSecuritySignature"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
"RequireSecuritySignature"=dword:00000000
These problems are unsolved.
Bluetooth driver works but enabling and disabling in windows taskbar, when I try it greys out and nothing happens also when it is enable I don't get a Bluetooth icon on the tray.
Device manager reports no issues

On my wifes Lenovo Ideacenter, yesterday out of the blue the following faults appeared:

- not able to go to sleep, closed down completely instead
- font and zoom settings got changed to too small for our old eyes
- all sound not working.

I went into the settings for recovery and selected to use 24H2 repair version, and after 1/2 hours download and another 1/2 hour to install, everything is again working normal.

Was that a malfunction caused by the update KB5048667?

I wonder if the hold for ASUS devices extends to their video cards? I have two PCs that will not upgrade as of yet and they both have an ASUS GPU. The other PC in the house upgraded just fine and seems to be running well - no ASUS components on that one.

I have an Asus Vivobook (see my system 2) and it just updated with WU successfully to 24H2, but it took very long to install (several restarts), much longer than for my Acer Swift X (same CPU) that was updated last month.

I definitely have a block. Looking at the details, it looks like a phone number. How do I find out what the block is?
Try googling the number with the added search parameter site:microsoft.com. That's how I found details of this one....

1734354113246.webp

Alternatively, go to Windows 11, version 24H2 known issues and notifications and search the page for the number, or the text safeguard ID to find each one in turn.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus the Insider Beta, Dev, Canary, and Release Preview builds as a native boot .vhdx.

Thanks @Bree

It can't find my hold number. I guess i will just have to wait until I can sort this out. It would be nice if MS had a list of all of the safeguard numbers and what programs and drivers they refer to.

After getting the 24H2 available notification with the expanded roll-out despite having one of the Ubi games listed in the hold, and then ignoring the update for a while, the update has disappeared completely now, cant match the block ID.

There appears to be two new holds Auto HDR might cause games to stop responding or display incorrect colors and Some devices that have Dirac Audio with cridspapo.dll might lose audio output

The former (Auto HDR) would seem to be a quite common setting and matches my safeguard id
