Keith, that's what I've found, with the added comment that the verify is much, much slower. What used to be a verify of seconds is now minutes. From about 10 seconds to 2 minutes for the verify.



I installed the 30-day trial on a Win 10 OS I have that was running Reflect V7. I got the same results on W10, very slow verify and sluggish backup. The V7 was considerably faster.

Something does not make sense.

I've not looked at the parts. I'm just looking at the times on scheduled backups.

I have tested it various ways. The backups are totally reliable. The restores work fine.

There might be one or two teething issues but the backups and restores look rock solid even if using Rapid Delta Restore.

My backup is less that 2 minutes on the latest release. Restore is the same.

There are still issues being reported concerning BSODS caused by the Changed Block Tracker. I stopped using that feature a long time ago and have had no issues since.

Yes, there are issues still being reported with Reflect v8.1.7336.

I also stopped using CBT a few years ago.
I don't miss it one little bit. I also don't miss the consistent issues that CBT has been having ever since its inception.

In general, it is fine and there are significant speed improvements when backing up but restores can be slower but still work ok.

There are always a few teething issues after any significant upgrade.

However, none of the issues seem to affect the actual reliability of the backup and restore (except perhaps CBT).

In my settings the CBT is on, was never off since years and this never caused problems in the past
So I'm waiting with the newest version until CBT will be fixed

Got an interesting response from a Macrium Rep, Charlie Sinclair, on my question about the image format change and slower verify times. Seems there is a connection and it will be corrected soon.

I have noticed considerably slower Verify times in 8.1. I'm curious if the image file format changes might also cause this.


Reflect 8.1 has an updated image verify method that gives verify times equally as fast as Reflect 8.0 in most scenarios. However, you are correct, the same image file format changes can result in a slower image verify on some CPUs and disk drive combinations. We have now resolved this and the next update of Reflect 8.1 (due very shortly) will have image verify times as fast as 8.0 in all circumstances.

I have not noticed any lag but my image is not that big and I Backup to a Samsung Pro 1TB SSD.

Cant find any changes in the boot-media , dont use the CBT , my older bootmedia works perfectly still .............so , Im not in a hurry .......! :wink:

Updated, created and tested recovery boots and verifies. Ran an image backup. All seems to be ok but the previous version was for me too.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

My speeds are back, especially the verify speed. As good or better than 8.0.
