We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

I purchased a one-time license
If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have three options;
  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.
  • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year of support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.
  • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

For Home V6 & V7: We are offering 3 years for the price of two. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)This offer ends March 31st 2025.

I am thinking of getting the "50% off Annual Plans for Life (subscription)", but losing the v8 Perpetual is a big oof too.

Yeah - I only did it as I had a single licence and the four pack. I only upgraded the single licence on my most used laptop.

I would not have upgraded if only one licence.

I wouldn't upgrade if you only have the one v8 perpetual license. But in the end, that's your decision.

I have a 4 Pack v8 license, and I'm still not upgrading.
I just don't see the benefits for upgrading to Reflect X at this point in time.
Reflect 8 is working just fine and doing everything I need it to do.

Worse - it is all or nothing with the 4 pack licence.

I don't know why anyone would rush into Reflect X when we have perfectly good working Reflect 8 versions.
I see it as a money grab with very little to offer.

I think Paramount Software is having financial difficulties.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Reflect is acquired by some other company.

Quite the opposite.

Paramount has already been taken over recently by a US company.

There is no suggestion Paramount was in trouble.

Clearly the new owners are going for the corporate market.I suspect the new owners if anything considered Paramount to be undervalued and saw an opportunity to improve its overall profitability.

I suspect the Home users only contributed a small fraction towards the overall profit.

I doubt the new owners really care that much about maintaining Home on a minimal profit margin. They could probably abandon them altogether with minimal over impact.

This is not really much different to the Home and Pro users of Windows. They contribute very little to MS's profits MS's cash cows come from corporate deals, Enterprise, MS365 for business, Azure, SharePoint etc.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Support ending doesn't mean the end of Reflect working. Support for Reflect 7 ended 17th May 2022, but I still use it on one of my machines to this day.

Yeah I may have got it a bit wrong but I understood there was a lot of US investment with their Colorado branch.

Dave Joyce is now the new CEO.

Even if not taken over by US, the US shareholding was obviously significant enough to change the companies direction.

In fact, they seem to be expanding into Australia as well.

Either way, it is no longer the family company we all grew to love.

Actually, one thing that has slighty irked me - when you install it, it only gives option for English (US). That seems to be a pointer to me of where it is heading. After all US population is 4-5 times UK.

I have installers going back to v6, and have just tested those for v6, v7 and v8. There was no choice of language at all until multiple languages were introduced with v8.0 in May 2021. It's not just the US, their ambition seems to have been for a global market, judging by the languages included.

Paramount Software UK Ltd is still the same high quality I purchased several years ago. And I'm delighted with my choice to upgrade my four Licenses to the new, much faster, Version X subscription for a paltry $49 USD per year. I will always be current, and I will always have premium support.

CoPilot was correct.

When I got my new PC, it came with a CoPilot key. Like you, I had my doubts, but I thought I would give it a try anyway. I've found CoPilot to be invaluable. I get answers to questions much faster and more concise than relying on Google with all the ads. And since using CoPilot, I have yet to have an inaccurate response.

I got a three year upgrade for $97.00 with full support. The Questions that I asked CoPilot redirected me to Third party Tech sites, and these were questions about Windows. Getting back to Macrium on my Wife's PC she is according to MR able to upgrade to a 3 year deal but they wanted $139.00 upfront to pay for the 3 years after that. That is nuts.

There are two offers for older v8 licences, the one you are talking about is a discount on purchasing an extra 3-year Reflect X licence while retaining the use of your v8 licence. The cheaper option is to trade in the v8 licence for an annual Reflect X plan at 50% off for life.

Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus the Insider Beta, Dev, Canary, and Release Preview builds as a native boot .vhdx.
