We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have three options;
  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.
  • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year of support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.
  • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

For Home V6 & V7: We are offering 3 years for the price of two. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)This offer ends March 31st 2025.

Well she has had her Laptop for 2 years and I never had to do a restore, so if her current licensed MR 8 stops working, I will just look for a free version Hasleo has a free one. Mine is goo for three more years I will do this same when it expires.

In its early days, one of the forum members asked it the classic trick question about how much of an iceberg is underwater and it replied 9 tenths of its height which is completely wrong - it is nine tenths of its mass as icebergs are never regular.

I rather hope it knows better now lol.

One of my colleagues is dsylexic and he tried it and it came out with rubbish. Humans can handle dyslexic writing (mostly) by context of knowing the fundamental science and engineering.

So it may be fine in your area of expertise, but mediocre at best in mine.

Yes and even in Microsoft Skype Insiders group which is NDA that I am part of, many have tested the inaccuracy of co-pilot answers. I can't give specifics as it's under NDA.

Skype Insiders is not Beta, it's talking about Skype in general. Microsoft can tell you anything it wants such as any Windows released on August 13, 2024 or later will work for the security fix but even build 4305 does not. 4317 does. There is no such thing as bug free as that's how they stay in business. Just because something is a released version does not mean there can't be problems on it's own. 24H2 is released but it has more problems than even the Alpha versions of the OS. Beta or Gamma is less risky than Alpha so that is saying a lot.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

My viboot still fails to boot, even if I add an incremental.

I saw on forum, a user had similar issues and used Reflect "fix windows boot problems". Well that worked fine for me except I lost other dual boot options (as expected).

Huh - I do not get your point. Sure MS issue Beta software BUT they make it clear it should only be on test pcs not your main pc.

Are you saying that you ignore that advice (not taking orders from MS) and run it on your main pc?

A favoured way on this forum is to run Indsider versions in native (dual) booted vhdx files.

Well for one thing Macrium Reflect X is not a BETA. Not only does MS release BETA software, they release Stable software that is still buggy. Look up the Term Hypocrisy .

Software can certainly be Stable and still be released with a list of mostly obscure bugs. Did you ever notice in the release notes for most software updates, you usually see the words "bug fixes"? Users are continually finding new bugs in sufficiently complex software running on tens of thousands of different hardware combinations.

Macrium Reflect is only ever issued as a Beta to a select few members.

You cannot even formally ask to be a Beta Tester other than posting in Macrium Reflect Forum you wish to be a Beta Tester and hope somebody listens.

I think this is a shame as some of the regulars here would definitely stress test it.

A bug is a feature and a feature is a bug. Since you are investing, I am sure you know that both hardware and software manufacturers are trying to push the other to their limits in a cycle. A new CPU will be fast because no software can push it to the max yet and then the software will release new versions to push it to the limits aka slowing it down and then what do you do, you buy new CPU again and then once again, the software will slow it down again. If this didn't happen, everyone would make something 100% perfect and be out of business, both the company and the people will not have a job. The current Windows Beta is more stable than the Windows Release aka stable version as has been proven from the various threads here and on other sites. And if you hardware runs hot enough, there can be real bugs as in the insects. For those who use DISH for Satellite, you will note that they will push new software that are release versions and it breaks so many things, it's not even funny as in the modern age, users are nothing more than testers since it's all about getting the "release" or product out without 100% full testing. If they did not do that, then things will take forever to get released as they want perfection and then the competition will have products out first. So it's really a two way street.
