Solved LiveKernelEvent Code 1cc

I know you are helping with the software/driver side here Zbook, just thinking outside the box here as hardware troubleshooting is easier from my end. Is it possible that I could have bad power to the outlet that I am powering my PC? Not sure if voltage fluxuations could cause a slight brownout and this symptom I am seeing over and over is the result. I think that it's possible.. but odd that the symptom is the same every time. I would think there would be more variability.

I connected a voltage and current meter/logger to monitor for power issues occuring at the same time as a lockup. No such issue. Had a lockup occur just now and there were not abnormal readings on power from the outlet. I'm running out of options :boom:

Which hardware components were swap tested and which components are readily available for swap testing?
Had cords / cables and PSU been swap tested or replaced?

I took the log on 6/24. I uploaded it to One Drive to share here, but One Drive was having issues and wasn’t able to generate a share link. I left town for the weekend and posted it this morning when I got back.

Those event logs regarding shutting down are from me hitting the restart button on my case within a minute or so of my PC locking up. Other than the original post which included an event regarding a “Hardware Failure”, there have been no events in the event log or reliability history that, from my inspection, point to the system locking up. Only events associated with my hard restarting of the computer.

I will take a fresh V2 log when I get home tonight and post it as well as update you on hardware situation.

Thanks again

Please confirm:

1) The computer has hanging / freezing problems.
2) There were no spontaneous BSOD
3) There were no spontaneous unexpected shutdowns and restarts
4) The unexpected shutdowns and restarts were due to manual power offs to be able to use the computer after the freezes.

What method / link was used to create the BSOD?

1) Yes, the computer has hanging / freezing problems.
  • The (2) monitors freeze on whatever they were showing.
  • The audio continues to play through my headphones or speakers (this includes discord and video game or video sound).
  • RGB lighting in case resets to default colors after approximately 5 seconds.
  • Mouse/Keyboard do not respond. They remain illuminated, however pressing keys or clicking the mouse does nothing. (example: caps lock does not change the caps lock light on the keyboard).
  • I have to manually restart the PC. No other methods of trying to wake/reset using windows key commands have worked.
2) There are no spontaneous BSOD.

3) Correct, there were no spontaneous unexpected shutdowns and/or restards. Only restarts/shutdowns initiated by me -> pressing the power or reset button on the case.

4) Correct.

What method / link was used to create the BSOD?
I believe the only BSOD's that I have encountered have been from using the Driver Verifier Manager.

Hardware Update:

I have replaced the following pieces of Hardware

  • Motherboard (Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra -> ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero)
  • Power Supply (don't remember old one -> Seasonic FOCUS GX-650)
  • Power Supply Cord
  • GPU (AMD RX 5700 -> AMD RX 6800 XT)

I have Tested RAM with the following methods:
(4x8gb Crucial Ballistix 3600 HMz DDR4)
  • MEMTEST
  • Installed only (2) sticks in the PC at a time with (2) sticks uninstalled. Waited to see if the PC crashed. It did, so I swapped the (2) installed sticks with the (2) that were uninstalled. Repeat. PC Crashed.

Remaining Hardware untested:
SSD (Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0)
CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 5600)
RGB peripherals
Fans
CPU Heat Exchanger
DPI cables for monitors

The issue persisted through all of these swaps/tests. Including SSD wipes and Windows 11 re-installations.

I used a Fluke Multimeter to measure/monitor voltage at the outlet that the PC is plugged into. There were voltage swings from 116VAC to 122VAC. These voltages are well within the tollerance of the power supply.

I specifically was monitoring to see if there was anything that appeared when a freeze occured, I saw nothing notable or abnormal.

When available please post a new V2 share link.

And run:

Post a share link into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

Make a free backup image using third party software and save the image to another disk drive or the cloud.

(Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)

Clean install Windows 10 for testing purposes.
When testing has completed plan to restore a Windows 11 image.

Zbook,

Here is the link to the V2 log file and the addition files gathered from the link you posted:

I will perform the windows 10 clean install tomorrow. By testing I am guessing you mean to use computer as normal and see if I get the freezes? Or do you want additional testing performed. Thanks.

I made a rescue media and saved it to a usb drive.

I don't have a spare drive to save a full image though. It will not allow me to save the image to my onedrive folder as it is included in the disk image.

Are we fine to continue without the full image? I do not have data on here I need saved. If it is vital for these steps of testing, I can figure something out.

See if you can test an alternative operating system such as Windows 10 or Ubuntu / Linux or both.

Can you run Windows Driver Verifier now to see if there are any misbehaving drivers?
If yes I'll provide some information for the testing.

Have to head to bed.

Will run Windows Driver Verification, per the link you sent earlier in this thread, tomorrow after work.

If you want me to wait for you to review the results, I will wait before clean installing windows 10. Otherwise, I will perform the clean install after I complete the WDV.

Thanks again for all your help.

There were no BSOD since the WDV BSOD on June 12 and 14.

There were no misbehaving drivers in the live kernel dump and during WDV testing.

Let's run WDV with various customized test settings.

Make sure that a new restore point is created.

If there are BSOD then drivers can be replaced.
If there are no BSOD then it will rule out drivers and move the focus to hardware.

Start with the 3 customized test settings in the TF tutorial.

Test all non-Microsoft drivers
Test no Microsoft drivers

If there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and type: verifier /querysettings > post a share link into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

If there is a BSOD then post a new V2 share link into the newest post.

If there is no BSOD with three customized tests then add 7 - 10 customized tests except [ ] 0x00000004 Randomized low resources simulation.

If there are major performance problems including very slow boot then the customized tests can be modified.

If there are no BSOD and no major performance problems then run all customized tests except [ ] 0x00000004 Randomized low resources simulation.

Again post either a querysettings or V2 share link each time WDV is in use.
