Nope, not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is any dedicated graphics card you get is going to be more than enough for anything you're doing. Unless you're editing 4K video, wanting to play the latest AAA games at max settings , and doing really high-end stuff, you don't need to think about whatever dedicated graphics card you end up going with. It will be more than plenty.
I know people that edit basic video on Intel integrated graphics. It works just fine. Just slower.
So there's nothing wrong with paying more and getting a dedicated GPU. I just don't think you should worry about what GPU it is. Because anything you get is going to be more than what you need.
I understand wanting to buy a computer that will last you a long time. Unless your needs for using the computer drastically change, Anything you buy on the high performance end will be more than enough for years to come.
Having said that, I am the kind of person that doesn't like to spend a lot of money when he doesn't need to. Everyone else is different and everyone else financial situation is different.
You can only future proof so much. Getting a dedicated GPU, regardless of what it is for your needs that you told us about, will serve you well for a very long time.
If you have two grand to spend on a laptop and you think you want all the bells and whistles then go for it and get a crazy high-end GPU and all this other stuff. It's all up to you.
