Looking to get a new Laptop PC, looking for advice, opinions, help

@TraderGary yes i know most of that but thank you for providing the info. I went down to BestBuy today just to look at the Laptops and get a feel for their key boards and damm it, this guy through an AUSU 15.6 OLED 24GB Ram 2000GB storage at me and said he liked Samsung, but I think Im still with DELL. I saw the Dell G3 Gaming laptop and liked its feel, also now see there is a Dell G16 on sail.. Gary you said above that you like XP line WHY and for some reason I though you in a different post said you liked Lattitude and that you are a refubished pc guy, i might be mistaken
I like the premium build quality of the XPS line. There is a difference that I like a lot.

I've never had a Dell Latitude, so I have no opinion other than I like Dell products.

I've purchased some new ones and some from Dell Outlet. Several years back I bought a Dell XPS 9510, with specs of 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 4K OLED 15" Screen, NVIDIA 3050ti, from Dell Outlet that was listed as like new with an original new price of $3,399 USD. I paid $1,749. When it was delivered it was indistinguishable from new, and my wife is still using it today. The OLED screen is as stunning today as the day it arrived.

My current XPS in "My Computer" below was purchased from the Dell Outlet and it too arrived indistinguishable from new with a full new warranty. It was $3,449 USD new, and I got it for $2,199. The out-of-the-box setup is the same as if you bought it at the new price. I love it. I've had nothing but good experiences with Dell Outlet and have never been disappointed.

You bought your 9649 new off of the outlet or refurbished or scratch dent option

It's a Dell XPS 16 9640. I purchased it refurbished from the Dell Outlet, and it was described as "Like New". When I opened the box, it was essentially a new computer without a mark or blemish. Crystal Disk Info showed less than an hour of power on time. For that I got a 36% discount. It was purchased on October 18th, and I've used it for 3 months with no problems. I added an extended 3-year Dell Premium Warranty that includes accidental damage.

Mine is a current model. Are any of the model you're currently considering available?

On the regular Dell site, you don't have to accept what they are currently listing, you can choose to configure the Inspiron 16 any way you would like. Just click on the "Customize" icon on the far-right side of the screen and set it up exactly the way you want. Dell will build it to your specifications.

When I want a particular configuration, I keep checking Dell Outlet every day. New laptops come in every day and current inventory is continually sold every day.

that is what steered me away from HP theirs is soldered in Dell you can added on more ram. My thoughts are I never thought I would need more ram but ya never know what the next five years demands will be you may need 32 Ram.
I don't have a Copilot+ PC so I think 16GB of Ram is all my computers are going to need. IF/when I buy a new computer I'll go for 32GB as the minimum.

From Copilot:

Laptop manufacturers are increasingly moving to soldered RAM for several reasons:
  1. Space-saving: Soldering RAM directly onto the motherboard allows manufacturers to create thinner and lighter laptops. This is especially important for ultrabooks and high-performance gaming laptops.
  2. Battery life: Soldered RAM can improve power efficiency, leading to longer battery life. This is achieved by reducing the space needed for RAM slots and optimizing the overall design.
  3. Cooling: With more space available, manufacturers can improve cooling solutions, which is crucial for high-performance laptops.
  4. Design flexibility: Soldered RAM provides more flexibility in the design and layout of internal components, allowing for better use of space and potentially larger batteries.
While these benefits are significant, there are downsides, such as the inability to upgrade or repair the RAM easily. This trade-off is something consumers need to consider when choosing a laptop.
I'm thinking it's more like the one that was left out. #5. No user replaceable parts so we can sell them a new laptop when the user has problems and the warranty has ran out.
