Lotus 123 Issues after update to 24H2

Windows 11 24H2
I'm using Lotus 123 from Smart Suite 9.8.1 loaded on a Windows 11 24H2 computer running in compatibility mode for Windows XP service pack 3. Since one of the latest Windows 11 updates "Print Preview" does not work, and when I "X out" (of print preview) it adds a "sheet" to the spreadsheet. (which I have to delete). I also ran the program as "Administrator" once, and now it will only run "elevated ". Run as administrator is not checked in the compatibility window.

I believe this happened after switching from 23H2 to 24H2.

How can I fix these issues?

This is really old software and, even though running in Windows XP SP3 mode it may no longer be fully compatible with 24H2 because 24H2 is a totally different OS to 23H2. When one updates to 24H2 from 23H2 it involves installing a totally new OS although it is called a Feature Update to 23H2.

I know it doesn't help you but I thought you should be aware of the possibility that it may not be fixable. Having said that, it is well known that 24H2 has quite a few bugs and it seems to have been released too soon so it is possible that MS may fix this incompatibility at some time.

If it is not too late (less than 10 days) you should be able to roll back to 23H2?

Maybe someone with 24H2 experience can help you? Good luck.

Thanks for your response.
Yeah it is really old software but there are alot of us old timers that think it's alot better (user friendly) than MS Excel.
I've been using it for nearly 40 years
I'm way beyond the 10 day roll back to 23H2

I use 123 in Win 7 compatibility mode and am having the same problems as the OP. After 25 years of working exclusively with 123 this is causing me some real problems. If I find anything useful in this context I'll post it,

I installed SmartSuite 9.8 on a new Dell desktop with 64-bit Win10 Pro then Upgraded that to Win11 and now is on Version 24H2. Only spreadsheets I have are .csv format and they opened okay. I had just done the normal install of SS. I may try Lotus Symphony one of these days on a different machine.

Curious if you ever found resolution to the issue. I too have the same exact problem. Just went to print the reports for year end and it's broken.

I have a couple of finance spreadsheets in 123 that I've honed (with many missteps) over about 40 years to do what I actually want without the overhead of Excel. Running these 123's from Win2k to Win11 22H2 through to current 24H2 without any issues, although I don't print them. And I agree that 123 is easier to use for simpler tasks than Excel.

There is also a very old pre-Windows DOS spreadsheet called Qube, which was the first spreadsheet I ever found with a virtual z-axis (ie. one could edit cells on a specific x-y address directly through all the pages). Amazing to me, this still runs perfectly in a DOS BOX on Win11 24H2. Don't use it now, it's archival for old mortgage records, although that has a use when drawing up wills etc.

I can print my 123 spreadsheets without issues but, as with the OP, it's Print Preview that no longer works correctly.

Further checking showed the Preview was simply more columns of the page, clicking in the middle of that changed it to a blank area so maybe unbeknownst to me until now I have incurred a similar issue.

Some of my 123 spreadsheets are quite complex and make a lot of use of formulae such as +"apples"+2+"pears"+3. There isn't any way I've ever been able to find of doing this in Excel so I just live with 123 and the print problem.

Huh that is one of the most basic functions

Naming a cell or range is one of the most basic excel functions

Cell A1 could contain a value, and you name that cell say lemons, and then you can write in another cell =lemons+2 fir example.

I'm fully conversant with the naming and use of cells in both Excel and 123. In my example neither apples nor pears is a cell, it is simply a text note included within a formula to assist in its understanding.
