Solved Macrium, Imaging the C-Drive

I don’t know why Minitools would be corrupting that drive, if it is. Is drive 2 still 0.00GB? I certainly don't understand that part.

I don’t believe you (Macrium) will need the full 931GB

How about you try splitting it when the “Create” box comes up.
Pick a size, 30GB or 100GB or something, it’s up to you, and make the second partition AFTER the main one not before, not that it should matter.
See what it does.
So in the “Unallocated space after” add the new size, leave the main one alone.
In the “Unallocated space before” leave that at 0.00

It should auto adjust, I think, it’s been a while since I’ve used it and I don’t have a spare drive ATM to do it.

Maybe try diskmgmt now that you’ve deleted the partitions.

Make sure the storage device is connected to and mounted on the computer.
Go to Search and then type diskmgmt.msc. In the search results, double click Disk Management.
From the list of storage devices in the middle of the Disk Management window, locate your LaCie device.
The partition must be available to format. If it is currently formatted, right click on the partion and then choose Delete.
To create a new partition, right click on the volume and select New Simple Volume. Follow the on-screen instructions when the New Simple Volume Wizard appears.

It’s up to you, just a suggestion from me.

Wasting weeks on this is hard enough.
Not being able to learn anything from the experience like:
should I have done anything differently, was MiniTool Partition Wizard at fault,
OH YES, there is something...NEVER CALL AN Image an Index!!!!

Macrium, Imaging the C-Drive ended up being about everything you can do to format a hard disk; get it to partition correctly, and work right, only to find out it doesn't work.
Hopefully, this thread will end up with a Macrium Image of my C-Drive.

I'm starting out by using a new, 2TB drive to hold multiple images.

It’s one of two things. It’s you (sorry) or the LaCie is stuffed. It isn’t Minitools
I have deleted, created, formatted, cloned, changed types and fixed at least 50 disks at least 500 times with Minitools, it’s a great program.

I was under the impression imaging only allows one to recover all of the image.

There was no need to create new threads. I predict they will just keep being removed. This thread diverted to formatting the drive because it is pointless you imaging your system onto a drive that isn’t prepared properly. I would suspect the LaCie is fine, I just don’t know what you’re doing wrong. If you choose to buy a new drive, that’s up to you, but again, it is pointless imaging your system to an unprepared drive.

I only created new threads because a) it was strongly suggested that I keep the threads shorter and to the point b) I able to paste a graphic or post a reply into the second one. I'm glad they were removed.

I think it's most likely because there's something wrong with the LaCie (before reading these threads about folk regularly replacing their hard drives I didn't know that usb drives are so sensitive. I didn't know there is a big difference is between a usb drive and an internal drive--they're both turned on and off every time the computer starts up and shuts down.
What's disappointing about MiniTools, which I've successfully used around 10 times is that it didn't report anything wrong with the LaCie.

What is the exact model number of the LaCie drive?
Some drives come with software already ON them. Sometimes, it can't be removed.
This may be what's causing the problems.

Other things to consider...

1. What is your C:\ drive 100% full?
2. At default settings in Macrium... an "image" is going to be about 1/2 the size of the used space on the C:\ drive.
3. So if you can't lessen the amount of used space on the C:\ drive, you backup image will be about 500GB.
4. On PCPartpicker there are ZERO reviews for a 1TB LaCie external hard drive. This is NOT good.
5. I don't think Minitools will report any thing "wrong" with any drive.
6. Try CrystalDiskInfo...

I have no idea why. It is my belief the C-drive is largely occupied by an error that was 'buried' to keep Diane from knowing how Microsoft (or Dell) solved her BitLocker problem. But there it is and there's nothing can do about it.

BitLocker) = 100% of the drive, yet the drive still contains a 100MB, 16 MB, and 625 MB partition?? I don't know. All I do know is that this is what I have to work with. I'm looking forward to reformatting the whole damn thing!
