Then you pay every year. It is akin to renting a car. You purchase it and you can use it for as long as you want. If a new version comes out, you do not have to update to it if you do not want to. MR is without a doubt the best of it's kind. I have been using it since Windows 7 and it never has failed me but it did save my behind many times!
