Solved Microsoft Money Sunset Plus (want to use in Windows 11)


Yes, I recently could not save a file in my work computer Documents folder, only at the Desktop! Once I discovered that ridiculous setting and disabled it, everything is back to normal.

It is buggy as the biggest bug is it is leaking handles as the msmoney.exe process is leaking 700,000+ handles over 72 hours.

That's why I prefer to keep a copy of my utilities, applications and games in my own disk and don't rely on internet to download them. Even today with the much faster download speeds we have the risk that the download link is no longer available, assuming you have a bookmark or you can easily find it by searching. This also applies for drivers, I know you can download a newer version online, but it doesn't harm to keep a copy at least of the last version you installed.

@Chairboy, the Internet Archive link spapakons gave in post #45 has a download available for USMoneyDlxSunset.exe. It's the US version, but I believe that was always the case for the Sunset Edition.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Here in Greece we use either the US version or the GR version of Microsoft and third-party applications. Today the only difference is the language, but some years ago the US version would come first, so if we wanted the latest we had no choice. The GR version would come later and would have some translation bugs not present in the US version. I remember some applications in XP that Greek text would appear as expected in the US version of Windows XP, but as gibberish in the Greek version (bad implementation of code pages). So naturally, I always favored the US version, even today, and I don't mind if there is no other language available as is the case in many other applications (Greek is not always available).

I use the latest UK version which is MS Money 2005, file version Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe.

Microsoft Money has been gone for years.

Microsoft did release "Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Deluxe," which some posts say will work on Windows 10. See, for example,

Although Money Plus Sunset Deluxe has been removed from Microsoft's servers, you can still download it from the Wayback Machine:
