MSDTC Crashing

OS
Windows 11 Pro
I've been gone for a couple months, and I just recently looked in the Windows Logs for a different problem and found this:

I'm not finding much information except at Microsoft, where it's pretty much gibberish. What IS THIS THING AND WHY DO I CARE IF IT DOESN'T WORK?

At 1:52 this morning this started…
Error 4163, MSDTC
MS DTC log file not found. After ensuring that all Resource Managers coordinated by MS DTC have no indoubt transactions, please run msdtc -resetlog to create the log file.

Do I just go into a command windows as an Administrator and do MSDTC RESETLOG? I did that, and didn't get an error, but I don't know if it did anything.

Event 4185, MSDTC
MS DTC Transaction Manager start failed. LogInit returned error 0x2. This is expected if the corresponding volume has been restored (search for kb article regarding the issue). In all other cases, contact product support.

Nothing I know of has been "restored". Certainly no "volumes" that I know of.

Event 53283, MSDTC
DTC Security Configuration values (OFF = 0 and ON = 1): Network Administration of Transactions = 0,
Network Clients = 0,
Inbound Distributed Transactions using Native MSDTC Protocol = 0,
Outbound Distributed Transactions using Native MSDTC Protocol = 0,
Transaction Internet Protocol (TIP) = 0,
XA Transactions = 0,
SNA LU 6.2 Transactions = 1

I have NO idea what this means… If there are zero transactions going on, what's it complaining about?

Error 4112
Could not start the MS DTC Transaction Manager.

Error 4111, MSDTC
The MS DTC service is stopping.

Event 4441, MSDTC
A MS DTC component has encountered an internal error. The process is being terminated. Error Specifics: DtcSystemShutdown (com\complus\dtc\dtc\msdtc\src\msdtc.cpp@2506): Shutting down with an error

Then it repeats all this a couple times, then goes away until 3:01, when it does the same thing again. I"m going to keep searching for information and an answer, but hopefully somebody knowledgeable in here can tell me what's going on and how to make this thing do whatever it's SUPPOSED to do!

I've continued messing with DTC. Found a thing online that recommended renaming the old log file, creating a new log file, and from a command window doing a "msdtc -resetlog", which I did.

Then I went into the Services and started the Distributed Transaction Coordinator Service, which was set to Manual. It's running fine at the moment. SHOULD it be Manual?

Gracie, my own DTC service is on 'Manual' and not running.
What more can I say. Seems like my Win-11 isn't needing it.
Maybe just shut it off and see what happens. ?

My Computer

Thanks for the reply...

I haven't found any reason for it to get started at 3 a.m. I have Syncback running during the night, but that's just writing to a local HDD. Nothing remote or NAS or anything else. Certainly nothing I know of that's hitting some remote SQL Server.

What would it be needed for that it decides to run in the middle of the night?

I"m going to stop the service, as suggested, and see what happens...
