Solved My Laptop Screen Keeps Flipping

A clean boot is a troubleshooting technique that allows you to get the computer up and running so that you can perform diagnostic tests to determine which elements of the normal boot process are causing problems.

Execute Sfc /scannow command from admin Command Prompt.

Try different user account.
I'm going to try this as unfortunately, it flipped again this evening. Went from Landscape to Portrait (flipped). No rhyme nor reason.

no problem! glad it all worked out for you.
I'm going to go back in there & see if all the changes held as it flipped again this evening. For no reason.

click on your network/speaker control center icon in the taskbar. is screen rotation greyed out or are you able to click it? if its not greyed out, we can lock it via a different registry method

*Also - does this pc have intel graphics? if so, it has hotkeys that can control screen rotation - they can be disabled as well

My office just shutdown but I’ll check tomorrow.

I had a thought, could using chrome desktop remote cause this? Have you ever heard of anything like that?

i honestly haven't used CRD in years... so im not sure about the current features. but when you are able to check it again:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation
create a new DWORD named "Enable" and make the value "1"

and it if does have intel follow these steps to disable the hotkeys:

I made the new DWORD.

It is Intel but it's Win 11. Can I use that link to disable the hotkeys?

Also, more and more I'm thinking it's the Chrome Desktop Remote. Today I updated the app on my iPhone and iPad. It automatically flips the computer screen as soon as I get on.

ahh ok. yeah may be the chrome remote overriding windows then. not sure offhand as i dont use that, but definitely a possibility.
you can use the intel steps if it has the intel control center installed. not all intel graphics have that program.

The only thing I see installed is Intel Graphics CommandCenter.

While I don't have that on my laptop, I tried it through the registry - to disable the hotkeys.
Nope. Still flips when I use Chrome Desktop Remote on my iPhone and iPad even with the new app. That has to be it. I guess I'll have to use it with my PC only.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

thats odd. I have used chrome remote desktop and never had it flip a screen around. Try unchecking scale to fit and resize to fit in the settings when connected and see what happens....

I had this problem the other day when I accidentally hit that rotate keyboard shortcut. I was able to rotate back to landscape, so now I followed this tutorial you supplied and was able to disable those hot keys. That's what I was looking for. Thanks for the link. :-)
