Have a question, under Custom Clean, if I select Adobe Acrobat Reader under applications and then clean, what does it clean exactly? Does it remove all PDF files or does it only clean the temp files?

Open file history and yes possibly any other temp files that Acrobat might store in a folder somewhere

Thanks @antspants as it doesn't really say what it cleans. Is it possible to not remove the open file history as I don't see settings of what to clean.

I’m not sure that CCleanr does have that setting for Acrobat like it does for the browsers (individual settings) mynonly guess is that if it does. @Almighty1, it would be under the selection heading like it is for the browsers.

@antspants - Good point, the only thing is I wonder why they have Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Reader DC as I have the later but not the former.

Id say that was just default, @Almighty1 as apposed to it knowing what you use.

It’s the devs’ attempt to meet the needs of the greatest number possible, without expanding the program infinitely. The chance that you’re using Acrobat is a million times more likely than the chance you’re using, say, PDF-XChange Editor, my favourite. You’ll notice that the first time you run a new installation, it takes a while for it to open. Part of that is a scan to see what programs you have that are available in the program.

That's true, just wished I knew exactly what CCleaner cleans when it comes to applications.

@Almighty1 Choose your clean settings, run the clean, when the clean finishes, on the right side under "Cleaning Complete" it will show you a list of things cleaned.
Dble click on any of those things and CCleaner will show you what it did. Could be a bit of reading involved.

@antspants - Haven't used CCleaner since 2009 even though I do have it install in every machine after that. Can you undo the changes since I forgot if it was Norton that offered that or CCleaner. Also, what does the * next to the app name mean as I have Notepad++ listed twice, one has a * next to it. Wished the analyze actually show what's included in what it found.

Hmm not sure on most of that. What you could have a look at, is if you go to "options/advanced" and put a check next to "Save all settings to INI file" you will find that INI file named "CCleaner.INI" in "C:\Program Files\CCleaner" Open it with notepad to read it.
Maybe that might tell you something, I'm not sure.
I am also not sure if you have to run a clean first to have the INI file created, maybe not. But between my previous post and the settings in the INI file, you should hopefully learn something from what is within them

Just gave that a try and CCleaner.INI shows this:

so all it does is show True if cleaning for the app is enabled and False when it's not enabled. Doesn't really say what it cleans. The undo is actuall for the registry cleaner, I know Norton Systemworks/Norton Utilities and jv16 regcleaner did have that function but not for the regular cleaning. The analyze when you right click on the applications only lists how many things and space it is taking up but doesn't show what is included.

Oh, I found out that the * next to the application name means:
An asterisk (*) next to an application's name means that you (or a system administrator) have added it to CCleaner as a custom application.
In my case, it was ccenhancer probably.

The method in post #93 will show you exactly what and from where something was removed. Albeit not a perfect way to find out, but it is thorough in it’s reporting.

@antspants - Problem with that is after it's removed. I figured it out. Basically, as you mentioned options/advanced which gave me the big hint, there is a option that says:
Show custom clean results as a file list.
and with that said, if the box is checked, I can right click on Adobe Acrobat and Analyze and it will show the list as follows:

If I leave that box "Show custom clean results as a file list" unchecked, right clicking on Adobe Acrobat and Analyze will show:

If I click on the Applications - Adobe Acrobat Reader which is already blue, it will show the 1st screenshot. So big thanks @antspants!
