Taking the hassle out of PC maintenance

We have initiated the roll-out of the new Software Updater tool which will also be included in the Health Check and brings a larger app database. A small set of users might experience the new Software Updater in the app.
We extended testing of the new Health Check flow to more users, which improves guidance during the cleaning and optimization steps.
We expanded our cleaning to our Customer Support tool.

Fixing bugs and other improvements

We resolved an issue that might cause the unregistering of CCleaner Professional for some users.
We optimized the UI on the overview screen and for Software Updater and Driver Updater post-update screens.
We resolved an issue when Software Updater might get stuck during the update of multiple apps simultaneously.
We resolved several licensing issues related to refunds and license expiration.
We improved the handling of uninstall parameters in the Uninstaller feature.
We implemented a fix to component permissions to prevent potential misuse.

Our support tool can now understand your cleaning rules to help resolve support queries more quickly.
We’re continuing to test the new version of Software Updater via Health Check with a small set of users. The new version now asks users to close running applications so we can update them, and sorts the recently updated software by date.

Fixing bugs and other improvements

The portable version of CCleaner no longer crashes after starting.
We resolved an issue whereby users with the UI in certain languages did not see the Start Button on the Welcome Screen.
We implemented several backend optimizations and improvements for better control over new feature releases.

We’ve improved cookie cleaning for Chromium browsers.
We’ve added new cleaning rules to remove bookmarks backup files for all Chromium browsers.
In the new version of Software Updater, you can now close the dialog box that shows the list of running programs to leave them running and omit them from the scan. 
We’re continuing to test the new version of Software Updater via Health Check with a growing set of users.

Fixing bugs and other improvements

We’ve resolved an issue where bookmark backups from Opera (GX) were not detected on Windows 7 and 8.1.

There's a Software Updater in Tools. Perhaps you were thinking of Driver Updater, which is definitely NOT part of Free, and that's one of the reasons why I run the Free versions, even though I've got several licenses. I don't use or want the DU or the Optimizer, so my CC looks like this:

... and when I extract each new version from the ZIP file, I delete everything except the new 64 EXE file.

.. because Lang, x64, x86, and CCleaner.exe aren't required on a W11 system, and the license.txt and portable.dat files never change, so they don't need replacing.

That chart is wrong. Software Updater is a part of EVERY version of CCleaner. Doesn't do much, 'cuz it only looks at your installed apps, so all portables and standalones are ignored. Almost all of my apps and utilities fall into one of those categories, and I take care of the installed ones myself, so if I run SU, it always reports that I have the "Latest and Greatest."

On one of my computers it finds 3 out of 169 installed apps, and on the other 0 out of 113.

Well, they've had trouble with every innovation they've added to CC in the last couple of years. Try the Free Portable, and delete the things I suggested above. That gives you the best of CC, and removes the worst.

Hi all, isa this software actually worth it. Many moons ago I had a copy of CCleaner. Took my pc to a comp shop for upgrade or something and I was told "we removed CCleaner as it is dangerous and can actually cause damage". Tried it again about 2-3 years ago and again, was told in a forum "bin it"

I depend heavily on it, and wouldn't be without it. The important observation is this: CCleaner comes with many, many default settings that might very well F-up your computer, so the way to use it successfully is to use it conservatively. I use the Custom Clean function (with fewer than a dozen entries checked), the Registry checker (with only five entries checked), and the Tools > System Restore list (which lets me efficiently delete older, unnecessary Restore Points) only. They serve me extremely well, and efficiently, too. I wouldn't advise using the Health Check, the Driver Updater, or the Optimizer. They can, indeed, cause damage. Fortunately, CCleaner offers rollback functions for most of the things it does, and if you choose to delete some registry entries with it, you can (and should) opt to file a backup of the registry settings it changes for you. That way, if anything doesn't please you, you can restore the registry to the state it was in before you deleted anything. As for the uninstaller in CCleaner, Revo does a better job, so I don't use the CCleaner version of that, either.
