Everything about Windows 11 is turning sad!!! Dumbing down seems to be the trend!!!
Look at Paint..., at least it was functional and you could do a few things with it...,

Decided to try the new Media Player, but the time elapsed and time remaining are not working they sit at 00:00 and 00:03 on all media files? Then bands like REM don't even show artist icon. Groove Music never had these issues

This idiotic program also cannot play any audio cds, when the old Windows Media player can, really annoying. I know everyone these days has their music as files on their pcs, but us old folks have many cds. This app seems pointless. Did Groove support audio cds?

I never used Groove very much and WMP and PowerDVD were set as the default media players so I don't know if you could play CD's in Groove. Maybe I can look on one of my W10 machines.

Nope, Groove did / does not play CD's.

I'm just gonna stick with MediaMonkey Gold :lmao:if I want a new look it's fully skinnable, even accepts Winamp2 skins if you want a retro look

I use the store apps I like and dump the others. I use the store versions of SpeedTest, Crystal Disk Mark, and a few others. If there's a store version of an app I want, I'll probably use it. The store is very good at keeping the apps updated. I also play the Forza Horizon series of racing games and they were purchased and installed through the store. They also get updated regularly. I'm a Store fan.

Okay, tell us how you got it to play from a CD. There is no option in the settings and if I set it to look at the CD drive for music, it doesn't find anything.

I put the CD into the CD-drive , and copy the music-files to a musicfolder first.
These files are mp3-extensions , which I can play with all my media-apps ..........
I have a codec-pack installed also.

My opinion is that the windows 11 apps have gained in appearance and lost, and a lot, in quality. Yesterday I had a problem with notepad and the only way to solve it was to reinstall windows with an In-place upgrade. They worked better and faster in windows 10. That is just my opinion and it has the value of just that, my opinion.

Thats not an audio cd then, the tracks on an actual audio cds are not mp3

Then you are not playing the CD. You're playing the files ripped from it. Totally different thing.
