This is why I'm extremely particular about media players - file structure and can they correctly organize albums without screwing things up to include proper artwork. This is why I'm such a fan of JRiver Media Center.

Anyway, I don't even have Windows Media Player configured on my PC and haven't even given this new on a look.

Using Media Player Classic , WMP, and PowerDVD21 , can really play anything , every extension, etc..........
Try MPC , its really very good.............

That must be it. About half way through its analyzing my folders and songs , it went haywire and screwed it up from there. Forget this crap. My old windows media player is good!

Would take pictures of mine but my entire systm is now boxed up and put away. Getting away from large home stereo systems. Some of the stuff packed away are both my Carver TFM-35 and Adcom 555 amps, my Rotel RSP-1066 Pre-Amp, Denon DP-47F Turntable, Rotel and Carver CD player as well as my Pioneer CD Recorder. Don't have any home speaker since the cones dried up years ago from lack of play.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with those pieces yet. May look to sell, though I'm probably going to keep my amps & turntable :)

I'm going to install this on my backup system running Windows 11 dev and see how it goes. I'll point it to my NAS for the music file.

If there is a discrepancy in metadata, foobar will list in Playlist view as a separate/different track but it will keep the folder structure intact.
Media Player scrambles everything up!

What I dedicate in foobar will emulate itself in MP, provided the data is proper...

I never had just a dedicated CD player. I always bought all in one systems with radio, CD, cassette, turntable, and speakers.

I loved the cassette era!
You sat there all night with your favorite radio station on, and that blank BASF Chrome Dioxide Maxima Ⅱ would be loaded in the deck on Record/Ready...,
... this was before DJ's yapped through a song's intro!
Music was funner back then!

Absolutely. AM radio was great. The top 20 lists every week. I lived near NYC and listened to WABC with Cousin Brucie. WINS had a top 25 and Murray the K as the top jock. Every week, when they did the new top 20, I was glued to the radio with a looseleaf notebook open to write down the new list. I had years of lists in that notebook. I did it from about 1961 to 1973. It started on an old AM tube radio. I also recorded a lot of tunes on cassettes and even 8-tracks. I was into music back then. Not so much any more.

Never mind, I looked it up. Nope, never had any laser discs. I have a lot of movies on DVD and BluRay though.

20 or 30 years ago, there was a certain physicality, (for lack of a better word), to a music listening session. You carefully extracted that LP from it's sleeve, gently placed it on the turntable, put the sharks tooth to the vinyl, sat back in your La-Z-Boy and enjoyed!
You cherished, admired and took pride in your music collection!
Hell, my uncle built 2 LP filing cabinets, one for my Dad and one for myself, out of solid oak! (Wish I had pics!!!)

Now, for the most part, the music is just a bunch x's n o's buried on some hard drive! Makes you so dis-interested!

I fondly remember setting aside a Friday night for watching videos.
You had book the machine and the discs for rental 24 hours in advance!

Needless to say, Media Player will probably never play any of this nostalgic type of media!
Hell, it won't even open a URL, even though it asks for one...

And..., it won't recognize your optical drive either!
