First of all, you have to be running Win 11. Then go to this site and follow instructions.
How to install the new Media Player in Windows 11 - gHacks Tech News
When you get the page to paste the link into, choose Fast lane from the drop down list and search. Then look for Zune music and version 11.2202.39.0. Make sure you're getting the msixbundle.

Amazing, thanks, pity this version still sorts my music in an odd fashion. The same band is listed multiple times, and albums are randomly sorted. Groove Music never did this, and I am using the same music folder. It's like it sorts the albums also by file type but there is no option to switch this off.

Yes, still same problem, bands listed duplicate times, if I select Artists, then all the albums will appear under each band/artist, but Albums my preferred sort method is not working as it should. Also, some artist artwork is not showing, bands like tears for fears shows a blank icon. Groove Music never had these issues. How can they break something so badly

Some things you can try is select the album without the art and select edit then 'update album info online' or download the art, google image it, right click where the art should be, select 'change album art' then browse to your art download.

It's not the albums missing artwork, it's the artists/bands, and well known bands as well

Not really..., it just tells the manifest yours is the minimum version allowable to install it on...,
just put your build number in the highlighted area and Save...
(you gotta keep the 10.0. in front of it though)

Nah..I wanted the new Media Player on 10. :( That was the object. Sideloading didn't work as It wouldn't be fooled with the OS version regardless of what I tried :ffs:

Will see if Ms will eventually update the app for 10 or not.

Does anybody still bother with Audio CD's any more. Vinyl I can understand but surely CD's these days have definitely got nothing to recommend using them any more -- any decent audio player can handle flac, and wav if one wants high quality lossless quality audio.
I suppose soon Ms will be offering VHS cassette players.

Even great old players like Winamp which had built in calls to an audio music CDB so could tag CD's when ripping them had a decent interface (BTW still works even on latest W11 editions) and VLC which plays almost anything are far better than the latest pathetic offering from Ms. Kodi also great so is monkeymedia and foobar (although from military training days that name reminds me of F.U.B.A.R so maybe some re-branding required !!!).

Ms should give up on silly apps that aren't even in the same league as decent free ones out there and concentrate on delivering an easy to use robust, fast and secure OS.

I like the App. I don't think it's a 'silly' App at all. Check how many of your players have an usable equalizer that works with Bluetooth headphones.
