nvlddmkm.sys CONSTANT crash

certainly since you actually saw a spark on/near the mobo, though it could be both. Swapping is the only real answer. DIY can be an expensive process. Only buy where you can easily return if problems(Amazon or Microcenter or ?).

That's very true but the spark was at least 2 years ago, I'm very surprised it took that long to die if that's the case. Though I'm pretty sure you are more clued up than me.

Considering taking the cheaper route of buying a PSU tester first. Can you recommend one on amazon please? (I'm based in the UK)

Thank you for all your help so far too, greatly appreciated!

I picked this only because it was by kingwin which is a known name to me, but probably any will do. With Amazon you can always return.

However, I am a bit concerned about cross contamination and if it was me I would return everything and start over. You can't do that since you are talking 2 years. You have a Corsair PSU and a Gigabyte mobo - both brands I love and use/have used. Yeah, I suppose start with the PSU tester first but all this will take time when you have no computer (or at least don't have that one.)

Look for reset button on the corsair psu.

I did try googling about a reset button but couldn't find any information. I also saw a way to reset the supply was to leave it unplugged for a while.

Do you know where I'd find a reset button? My PSU is the SF750 Platinum

Nope no reset button. Killer PSU!
leave connected to mobo,
.. unplug power to PSU,
..press start on PC a bunch of times,(to drain PSU)
.. (edit) then let it sit for recommended time

- just to try. Doubt it will change anything but cheap fix if it does.

Alrighty I've drained the PSU and left it unplugged. How long is it recommended that I leave it?

Last night I had the fully working system but display wouldn't work again. I'm wondering if the PSU had just worn out and has now given up. Because the few times I've booted but no display would work my system would work. I couldn't see anything on the screen but I could log on to the system confirmed by audio prompts and fans reacting. Can a computer boot if it thinks no GPU is connected?

1. no idea - I looked for manuals but found no way to "reset it" I would say 5 min unplugged is plenty.

2. display is powered by line power, correct? external monitor? Has nothing to do with PSU.
computer will boot to BIOS if no GPU connected and will likely complain - if you can boot to BIOS, what does BIOS say?
Since you have display card, you could alternately connect monitor to HDMI connection on back of mobo and see if CPU chip display is working if it has one (I have no idea about Ryzen's)

yes the Aorus Pro has both a HDMI and a Dport that you could try if display card is not working - BIOS and windows won't care.

1. no idea - I looked for manuals but found no way to "reset it" I would say 5 min unplugged is plenty.

2. display is powered by line power, correct? external monitor? Has nothing to do with PSU.
computer will boot to BIOS if no GPU connected and will likely complain - if you can boot to BIOS, what does BIOS say?
Since you have display card, you could alternately connect monitor to HDMI connection on back of mobo and see if CPU chip display is working if it has one (I have no idea about Ryzen's)
1. Left it about 10 minutes and plugged it back in - no change, LEDs nothing and fans don't even try. Heard they can sometimes try but fail.

2. Display is a samsung 43 inch 4k tv so has its own power yes, just have a HDMI in the back of the GPU. And yeah when it would boot I could still log in, it just wouldn't detect any display being attached to it but the system was acting like the display was connected. It was booting to bios, it was going to the windows log in screen as I could press space and enter my password.

EDIT: this only happened a few times in the past year

3. My CPU doesn't have on board graphics so even if it did boot I couldn't do anything

I guess we are left with the PSU tester... apparently a few of the SF750's did fail, but that is true for just about everything.....

Got a small upgrade out of it too. 100w. Got the Corsair SF850L. Really hoping it's something nice and simple like the PSU. My system was originally a custom build from an online business, I'd be lying if I wasn't a little nervous about potentially screwing something up as I've never made any changes to my system myself

I will thank you! Can I just unplug all the cables from the old psu and plug them straight into the new one? I've seen things saying you can't? It's literally attaching the cables to the motherboard and getting it wrong and breaking something that scares me

you could but I wouldn't - use the new cables - maybe a cable is bad.
