Outlook Classic or Outlook New?

I understand that Microsoft intends on forcing all Outlook users to switch from Outlook (Classic) to Outlook New.
I also understand that anyone who already has switched cannot go back (from Outlook New to Outlook (Classic)

The new or classic toggle is still in my Outlook.

You can use either or both (even at the same time) for at least the next four years.

I use the new Outlook, but my continued use of it for now depends upon the promise that Microsoft will introduce full PST file support in March. At the moment it is read only.

I have at least 15 years of archived e-mail in a PST file so it's absolutely critical to me. For the moment I pulled all of my PST contents into my live e-mail but the thought of only having it in the cloud makes me twitch.

I have not seen any factual information that Outlook ‘Classic’ from Office Pro Plus 2021, will be forced to use Outlook (New)

If you are referring to Microsoft 365, you didn’t mention it. I cannot see myself ever subscribing to a Microsoft subscription product, so I don’t believe I have a problem.
When Outlook Pro Plus 2021 reaches End Of Life in 2026, I will most likely continue to use it until I don’t feel safe to do so — or they stop it from working.

The latest from MS about this is linked below. But as most folks here will know MS don't always have a great track record of sticking to their published time frames for such releases.

I don't use ANY email client. Outlook is one of the first things I remove with REVO.
I only use web mail.

I may be switching from POP3 to IMAP. Under POP3, all data (email and Contacts) is stored and accessed through .pst files. (This can be done by including Contacts with an email .pst or by generating a separate Contacts.pst) Currently, how do I provide an IMAP account with my Contacts.pst information? Must I generate a Contacts.ost file and put it in a specified directory?

At the moment is the read only Contact information the same as it was in Outlook (classic)?
More specifically/importantly, does the read only information in the Notes field display in full RTF?

Microsoft have a detailed breakdown of the scenario's whereby different versions of Outlook will be switched to the new version. It also explains why the toggle on the ribbon in Outlook isn't available.

That's weird. The toggle still shows up for me on all of my systems so I can freely flip back and forth between old and new Outlook:

If you use personal domain, business or school email addresses other than Outlook email addresses in classic Outlook (like from Office 2021) it shouldn’t show a toggle

Ahh, that explains it then. I am simply in a workgroup, although I am planning on setting up a home domain soon. It's been many years since I worked with Server, which is ironic considering that I was in Tech Support for Windows Server many years ago.

Hopefully it will be like riding a bicycle and I will pick it up quickly, although I'll have to get up to speed on the changes.

In classic Outlook, you won't see the Try the new Outlook toggle if in addition to using a Microsoft personal or Business account in Outlook, you also added a work or school account, but your admin has hidden the toggle, or if the account you're using isn't supported in new Outlook. For example, your account might be associated with a one-time purchase of Office or a standalone version of Outlook, or you're using a work or school account which doesn't support new Outlook.

If you have a systems admin or your company outsources such a thing, then the likelihood is that the business would go through exchange. Same with schools I would suspect?

Well, I just did a clean install of Office 365 on a clean install of Win 11 24H2 26100.3321 and classic Outlook was NOT installed and no option to install it either.
