So no certificate ever, thanks for info. I tried to keep checking it out, but I will put it on my ignore list from now. ;)

Thanks - but like Macrium Reflect & Casper, Delta Restore is only on paid versions.

Equally, Hasleo is only FREE tool that offers this (imo) game changing feature.

Kudos to them - let's hope there is no hidden agenda e.g. get us all tied in, then remove premium features unless you pay for them.

A little update on a possible PORTABLE version...

The Devs have been playing around with my request to come up with a portable version that will work with any "matching" (x86/x64) WinPE... they are almost there. I have successfully tested one of their offerings with most of my x64-based diagnostic WinPEs (Strelec, AnkhTech, Macrium) and all have worked fine.

I also tried that version as a fully portable version running under LIVE Windows (x64). An anomaly was discovered having to do with uninstalling a previously installed version of HBS (naughty, naughty... something they weren't doing that they should have) then trying to run the WinPE version as a portable. Once the anomaly was removed (by me, manually), the WinPE version worked fine as a portable.

There's still some more work to do but it seems to be moving ahead nicely. This application, eventually available as a fully portable entry, would be a very nice edition to the world of imaging.

For those who remember the AX64 imaging team... this group ain't them :giggle:

Hasleo Backup V4 has now been issued.

I have been testing the Beta version, and it was a bit buggy but the release versions seems to be very sound.

So I installed it and created a Windows boot entry - I made sure I included my Intel NVME IRST driver.

I then booted into it and it worked fine - I could see my NVME drives - in the beta, this failed, and I had to add the driver at WinPE stage.

I see they have inproved the backups - before a drive backup backed up every partition - now you can select which partitions to backup.

The Partition restore is still limited to restoring one partition at a time, but that is less critical now due to improvement above.

The gui is simple and ok for beginners but does not have Reflects flexibilty to reorder partitions (but you can do it by restoring one at a time - slightly clunky).

It handles incremental AND differentials.

The inclusion of Delta Restore is a major plus (only paid version of Macrium Reflect and paid versions of lesser known Casper have this feature (to the best of my knowledge).

I di a full backup in 1 min 15 seconds (Reflect 1 min 50 seconds), and restored image making no changes selecting Delta Restore in 30 seconds (Reflect around 50 seconds). Of course, as I made no changes, this is the fastest one could expect.

In the end, the only major Reflect feature it does not have is Image Guardian.

It even has similar ability to Reflect's Redeploy to restore to different hardware (provided you have drivers) although this is an option I rarely use nowadays as W10/W11 manages hardware changes very well by and large.

In the end, the only slight downside is the lack of gui flexibilty (conversely Reflect's gui has flexibility but is not so intuitive for beginners).

Overall, this definitely the best of the modern free offerings and is a serious contender for a Macrium Reflect alternative - just for Delta Restore on its own. Also, it is fast!
What does this software do that even the discontinued (but still largely functioning) Macrium Free doesn't do.

The interesting bits of Hasleo like create a WindowstoGo system from existing Windows (not a NEW install) (paid BTW) take almost the entire lifetime of the universe to run and far too complex when a simple Dism /Apply-Image does that job perfectly -- and if you want to update to a newer build of windows (from a WintoGo system) just simply reset the win reg ley portableoperatingsystem back to 0 and reboot. Same when converting a Windowstogo system to an "internal fixed drive" standard system.

I've 100% no issue with people writing software (and even charging for it) if it's fit for purpose -- but why even PAY for stuff when a load of bog standard Windows built in functions do it quicker and better for FREE.

I'd suggest people look again and study the capabilities of Dism, bcdedit and bcdboot.

For actual data / archive backups especially if people use things like NAS etc - there are really so many options out there these days that there really is no "One solution fits all".

How much data really changes that often -- email if you use iMap is left on a server, office stuff you can send to the cloud etc and music / other multi-media type data rarely changes so what's the point of "Incrementals" / "differentials for backing up this type of stuff -- just backup new and changed data -- and that for probably 99% of domestic users will be a trivially small amount of data.

(And just as a "dig") - I know you hate Linux but the free bootable version of GPARTED which has a GUI 99% that the most dedicated windows user wouldn't have any trouble using can copy / backup / clone partitions and disks with almost any known file system and many even on this Forum find it a good tool to have in their armoury.

Cheers

The main features for me are INCREMENTAL imaging and Rapid Delta Restore (RDR). The RDR feature alone makes this tool very powerful when restoring System snapshots (Incremental images in time). As a previous RollbackRX snapshot user (pre-2015), this ability to both backup your volumes AND provide for rapid image restoration was extremely important. Macrium REFLECT introduced this feature in 2015 and I haven't looked back since.

@trevo - my point is that the most interesting parts of hasleo are now PAID software and it functions far more slowly than simply by using classical 100% free built in Windows commands. (Not talking about data archive and backup but simply concerning the imaging of the OS itself).

As both hardware and software have evolved it's never a bad idea to review what one is actually doing and query whether what was excellent and worthwhile years ago is still the best way to achieve similar objects today.

I have the same issue with some of the domestic (not corporate) anti virus programs around now that WD itself has advanced to an excellent robust product and even the legendry "leaky" Windows system has far better security itself built into the OS these days too.

Actually if you use VM's then snapshotting can be done easily enough. Both HYPER-V and KVM/QEMU have excellent snapshotting features for their guest OS'es.

As even on physical hardware I always use vhdx files and my system OS for Windows is usually very small - typically around 30GB I rarely if ever need to backup the OS with any imaging program -- it's a doddle simply to copy the vhdx file(s) and restore if necessary and where appropriate just re-install the boot loader (bcdboot).

Backing up / archiving DATA is a totally different ballgame and everybody will have different methodologies and strategies on what to backup, where to back it up to and how to do it.

I rarely see the need for backingup the system regularly any more in the old"Classical way" with Macrium or whatever.

Of course if in a business with loads of windows client computers, or running e-commerce or public web servers then again that's another issue -- my remarks are primarily directed at domestic users.

I know what your point was, but my point is that this is about Hasleo and should remain about Hasleo, there's plenty of other threads about alternative methods but as far as I'm concerned I want to know more about Hasleo in case I want to try it in the future.

And I also prefer to use paid software, as I don't work for nothing and don't expect software developers to either.

This works fine but I still do not see why we need a service running all the time…
On my Macrium, the service protects all of the backup files from being scanned by my antivirus, so no telling what else. Not sure what the deal is.

1) To me, .vhdx files are image files, because they are what I get as result of imaging with Macrium.
What is your method of getting "vhdx files"?

2) Please explain the way in which you "restore".

As they say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I wonder if you could ask admin to remove off topic posts. Or maybe there may be a way for the OP who started the thread to be able to remove off-topic posts.

Just a thought and I won't say anymore about this kind of almost off topic too.

Am yet to test a restore with Hasleo 4 (AOMEI was a fail, maybe something I did wrong with the restore media?)

What I don't get, is when creating the Hasleo Emergency/Rescue media to a USB, all the files and folders are hidden. With "Hide protected Operating System Files" unchecked, then the USB content is visible.
This isn't how any other rescue media I have is protected. I can see all content with "Hide protected Operating System Files" checked.

Another thing. Hasleo appears to HATE being dragged between monitors. And regardless of where I drag Hasleo to, the dialog boxes that open when performing an action, open on the main monitor and not with the Hasleo main frame.
