Hi everyone,

Before moment four came out there was a feature due to come out - repair with windows update.

Basically, it repaired your PC whilst keeping all apps and settings.

It's not there for me.

Will it still be forthcoming I wonder?

Thanks, but I am aware of how to do an inplace upgrade. This feature is different.

It's supposed to be coming. I believe some Insider channels may already have it.
However, we don't know what Windows build number you're on, so it's kind of hard to answer your question.

You can type winver in the Taskbar search box to find your build number.

Yeah... that's the public release channel. We don't have it yet. :(
But when it does finally arrive... it's just a built in, In-Place Upgrade.

Yes. Except when it's done, you won't have to download a million updates that came out after the latest ISO.

In general, you will need to download & install one Cumulative update and possibly up to four others.

Roger that. It's not like in the old days where you had to install updates, reboot, install updates, reboot, install updates....

That process alone could literally take hours.

That feature has only been introduced to the Insiders Canary channel so it probably won't show up in stable builds until next year's Feature Update (24H2) or possibly a Moment update in between now and then.

What does it do? Maintain a fully-updated ISO/equivalent ready for Repair install procedures?
