From a laprtop via internal Intel Wifi card and sending to 2 Wifi extenders / repeaters -- I'm 250 Metres from the main House (we have a sizeable plot !!) -- I've been "Banished" to the Shed today as I've got bits of noisy machinery I'm reparing with oil , diesel, gasoline (petrol) etc all over the place so I'm quite content with this.
I'm curious though on those with speeds approaching 1Gbps as to what Wifi are they using -- as most wifi cards - especially in things like older laptops still use Half Duplex which obviously kills the maximum speed considerably and also if using wifi repeaters whether these can use both 2.4 and 5 Ghz concurrently for maximum throughput.
This section would make a lot more sense if the hardware being used to achieve the results was shown too.
Am limited to a 72Mb/s service due to location, [although not obvious I live on an island - raised higher ground on a waterlogged boggy area, that has so far prevented decent supplies that are surrounding the area from reaching here.
I am also constantly running multiple connections to other equipment and streaming a FHD TV program so not much loss from available throughput

Not using wifi here - it's a direct gigabit ethernet connection to the router. Recently downloaded the latest 22598 ISO: this was a 4.8 Gb file and downloaded in around 50 seconds.

I think that's an issue -- doesn't matter what speed the ISP delivers if your hardware (particularly wifi) can't handle it. There's still a load of older wifi chips installed in even newish laptops with 54 mbps as maximum !!.
Even "Donkeys years old" LAN wired NIC chips could handle speeds of at least 100 mbps and usually capable of 1000 mbps even though apart from your own LAN there weren't ISP's delivering 1000 mbps to bog standard home consumers (pre Netflix etc days).
If you need to fill a car up with 80 Litres of fuel and even if the pump could easily deliver 50 litres a minute you'd still be stuck at the pump for a long time if the fuel intake on your car was only 3 mm wide. !!!!
