I was informed Backup and Restore was to be deprecated… when I looked, it was apparently marked for the kiss of death way back to 1709. What does that mean, really?
System Image Backup (SIB) Solution | This feature is also known as the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) legacy control panel. For full-disk backup solutions, look for a third-party product from another software vendor. You can also use OneDrive to sync data files with Microsoft 365. | 1709 |
Someone mentioned they’ve used it “50 times” I’ve used Backup and Restore for my OS drive well into the hundreds, sometimes many months after the image was created. I have never, ever had it fail except for a couple of times the drive the image was stored on was corrupt.
3rd party software, I have had fail on sooo many occasions that I stopped using any.
@Ghot pointed me to Macrium (but I don’t have a college degree) and AOMEI which seems simple enough. I am like Ghot. I have backups of backups spread across all realms of the Universe, some protected by THOR himself. I learned the hard way, I lost 20 years worth of graphic art and website designs for both myself and clients. It nearly put me off computing, it certainly put me in a state of depression and I quit and have not worked since in that field for 5 years now.
Also, where does Microsoft get off, asking people to “look for a third party software” That’s pretty pissweak!
