I really am not trying to be obnoxious here. Not in the least. But I have a hard time understanding all the hatred of the Windows 11 requirements.

If you don't like them, just run Windows 10. Or Mac OS. Or Linux. Or whatever. 11 won't be suitable for everyone!

The problem is that no matter what you do, there will always, always, always, be those who don't like the decisions made.

Are there things about Windows 11 that I personally don't like? Absol-freakin-lutely! But, at least for me, it was compelling enough that it is all that I run. The only time that I ever see 10 any longer is in a VM.

I'm more a fan of single malt whisky like Highland Park or authentic Trappist beers like Orval or Chimay Grande Réserve, and a few special beers like Mikkeller-Lindemans Spontanbasil. Or heavy red wines that have aged ~4 years like red Bourgogne, Pomerol and Lalande de Pomerol. A good bottle of Pomerol with a few bars of dark Belgian chocolate will make you forget all about Windows 11 or else you just don't know what's good.

What short memories some of you have.

Back in the days of Windows XP, every Windows operating system (95, 98 etc) had to be paid for. There was no free upgrade. But at the time, most people liked XP and wouldn't upgrade no matter what. It became very vulnerable to hackers and Microsoft were forced into letting people upgrade for free as the infected XP owners were risking messing up the internet completely.

For some odd reason, Microsoft continued the free upgrade with subsequent versions of Windows. That is, until it released Windows 10. Realising they were loosing out on masses of cash, they came up with the idea of TPM and advanced requirements to force customers to buy a new more modern system that met the requirements.

But hay, I've got my Crystal Ball out and can see History repeating itself. Most people with Windows 10 love it. There computers are working perfectly, so why spend out masses of cash to upgrade their computers to be compatible with Windows 11 and then have to also pay out for a legitimate Windows 11 licence. When support for Windows 10 ends, will Microsoft once again be forced to reduce the Win11 requirements to allow Windows 10 owners to upgrade for free? Time will tell....

Forcing people to buy hardware that is expensive isn't an acceptable thing either.
I'm darned if I'm going to buy a new PC just for Microsoft.

It isn’t uncommon for a company to cease support and make new features only available for new hardware. Take Apple for instance.
But I don’t think i’d buy a new PC just for an operating system, either.

If Microsoft wants to develop its OS to keep pace with faster processors and memory while keeping up with security threats, it's inevitable that we will need new hardware eventually. I don't think MS is nearly as cynical and exploitative as Apple.

With fifty million lines of code, I'm impressed that W11 is almost fault free for those of us who have fairly basic setups.

I buy a new PC every few years simply because I love having a new PC! It's absolutely true that the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. I love technology and I love comparing my old technology to what I will have with new technology. I love shopping for a new PC and I love watching review videos on YouTube. I love configuring my new PC exactly the way I want it. I love getting my new PC home and getting it all set up the way I like it. The bottom line is that I don't buy a new PC for anybody but ME!

I'm enjoying 11, but if some are like me, they enjoyed playing around with all the past OS's. But on most of the older versions of Windows, most browsers "I like" don't support them, heck I can't even run my VPN Private Internet Access, it doesn't support 7 anymore. I understand software mfg's have to focus on the latest and greatest. I know there are ways around everything, to get for example windows 7 working to our contentment, but it's really a hassle. I still use LTSB and LTSC, and both perform flawlessly, I think MS broke a lot of hearts dumping 7, it was everything most needed, and the performance was great, but then comes the new hardware. But again, I'm ok with 11, but for me personally, dumping some of the past OS's has taken a lot of fun out of what used to be a nice pastime hobby for me. Heck I'm running 11 on my Asus P6T Deluxe V2, with the Xeon 5690 running @4.3 GHz and it works and perform flawlessly. I watched a YouTube Video a few days back, comparing the i7 930 running @4.25 on an X58 board to the 8700K , I was really surprised on how close the performance was, and Ok, Next!
