I have two identical Lenovo laptops. The win update 24h2 appeared on both of them about a 10 days ago. A day or two latter the update disappeared on one of them and has not come back. Again these are identical computers. Also the update does not appear when I turn on the " Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" option. What's going on?

Try deleting Windows Update cache files using the attached batch script and check for updates, you can also use Windows 11 update assistant to upgrade to the newest version of Windows 11.

Does Windows shows your computer has a pending update?
I've never noticed a "pending" update. Where would I see that or is that the "Windows 11, version 24H2 is available" update. It is the "available" update that is not showing. It also does not show in "optional updates".

My daughter's Dell laptop has similar. She had "Get latest update....." turned off. She was offered 24H2 as an optional update for a couple of weeks but today after checking for updates 24H2 doesn't show. Is it possible MS has put a compatibility hold on her laptop after offering 24H2 before and how do you know if they have done this? Mitch

do you want the update installed or just want it showing? if you want to install it, just download the .iso and run setup.exe....

For now I just want it showing and perplexed as to why two identical laptops are not showing the same thing. If there is a hold for something or clear to update both should show the same thing. They did till the update disappeared on one of them.

You could check for a block.

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\TargetVersionUpgradeExperienceIndicators\GE24H2

Look at GatedBlockId

just to rule out the obvious before diving in too deep.. have you paused updates on that pc, rebooted and then resumed updates to see if it repopulates?

Yes I have looked at that. It shows a block that was cleared a little over a week ago. That's how I got it to show in the first place then it disappeared. No new blocked noted now.
