Upgrading From Win 10 to Win 11

Hi, I've recently purchased a new desktop PC running Win 11 (PC-1) and after using it for a while I have to say I find it very easy to navigate and find stuff. I've had no issues at all (apart from a home network share which was more than likely my fault as i did rush it when setting up the PC's) So I've decided to now upgrade my other PC from Win 10 to Win 11 (PC-2) and wanted to ask some advice on the best approach for this.

Currently I have two hard drives installed, The primary being a 256gb SSD with the secondary drive a 2tb standard hard drive and I have also recently ordered some more ram memory which should be delivered in the next day or two.

Firstly, is it advisable to remove the 2tb drive from the system before doing the upgrade to Windows 11 or just leave it alone. And on the new ram modules, would it be better to install these first and test to make sure all is ok before doing the upgrade.

Is there anything else someone would recommend I do as well before upgrading (scandisk, defrag ect ) I will of course be backing up any files on both drives anyway.

I would install the RAM modules first and check in Windows 10. Then do a chkdsk /r on the drive you intend to install the new OS on. Finally a full backup of everything, just in case of disaster.
I don't think you need to disconnect the 2TB drive before upgrading.
You don't say how you intend to run the upgrade - i.e. from Windows Update or from a download on a USB (for instance). That information might help others to assist you.

Good point on the upgrade method ! I was just planning to use Windows Update for this unless other would say not to do it this way?

Is the computer you intent to upgrade officially Win 11 compatible? If it is why it hasn't upgraded by WU?
