You can also just add your parts to PCPartpicker, and it will calculate the needed wattage for you. (top right)
Just make sure you choose the country... first.
For example... this is mine...
So, say 400W (RMS, not peak wattage). So I use a 750W power supply.
Remember, the more load you put on the computer... the more wattage it will draw.
Also, the warmer the ambient temperature gets, the less efficient a power supply is, which is another reason we always add some extra wattage.
A cheap 850W power supply, will be rated at 850W "peak"... which is marketing.
A good 850W power supply will be rated at 850W RMS (root mean square), which translates to "continuous" instead of peak.
When we buy a power supply we want the RMS wattage, where the PSU is putting out whatever wattage "continuously", not just sometimes.
