What is your favorite email client and why?

And..., I'm sure the rate of subscription buyers is way higher than One time buyers!

Yup! It's money in the bank!
If 100,000 users buy Office One Time Purchase at $150.00, and ride that out for about 10 years..., that's 15 million bucks.
If MS sells 100,000 users a $99.00 per year subscription, that's 99 million bucks over 10 years!
What would you do if you were MS!?!?!?
The subscription includes 1TB of OneDrive for each family member. The subscription includes Microsoft Office for each family member. For our family, the subscription is the absolute bargain of your two examples!

That's a win-win for all concerned then! (y)
I have yet to buy a subscription of any sort.
I just don't like the idea of renting software.

I have a colleague at work who's a real subscription freak, some necessary, some frivolous..., I asked him to total all the monthly fees..., it damn near equaled the amount of his mortgage payment! I thought that was fecking outrageous! But then..., his wife is a professional so, she probably pays for the house!!!

Yes, when you say it like that, it sure does sound ugly.

I have subscriptions to:
Microsoft 365 - Office and OneDrive
Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
Macrium Reflect X
Amazon Prime
1Password
FinViz

These subscriptions are all invaluable to me. I use each of them many times every day, and I wouldn't want to be without any of them. For me, a subscription must have enough value that I'm willing to pay the subscription fee. Each of these fully qualifies. I just put them on autopay and, of course, I can easily afford them.

Each to their own, according to his or her needs and affordability.

Actually that's "Small Change" for companies like Apple, Google, Amazon, Ms etc etc. Plus these companies like actual political power where they can change / decide govt policies etc whatever the electorate thinks. In their A.I and robotics division alone Ms is making zillions of bucks plus it has a huge income from cloud services (Azure etc) and is involved with the military on cyber security etc etc. I doubt whether a few subscribers signing up to Mailbird etc would even be noticed at the lowest and most junior level.

Cheers
