Who has the oldest, slowest computer running W11?

I'll start the bidding with a 2009 Atom N450 with 2GB of RAM. I'll post a Windows Experience Score if it ever finishes installing updates!

No, not older. My Acer Aspire One AOD270 is from around late 2011/early 2012. And having upgraded it above and beyond the manufacturer's specs it's probably not (quite) the slowest either :wink:

Oddly, File Explorer is doing what it did on my old ASUS transformer (System 3). Half the GUI is absent.

An older machine of mine is from 2010, a Samsung R519 with a Celeron T3100 and an HDD. It currently runs W10(x86) 24/7, but I had not yet tried it with Windows 11. I'm actually quite surprised how well it manages......

But as Bree mention it isn't fair to you others as i collect computers and have at least one of each generation since Intel 8088.. according to the web amd x64 cpu came late 2003 and Intel x64 mass production in early 2004 even they did do one model in 2001 but that one is rare.. and win11 ISO is 64 bit only and i dont think i can manipulate the 11ISO to become a 32bit even i can do much. *lol*

I know i have Intel p4 x64.. i dont know if i have the
But hardware from 2004 should be doable.

hmm..

......... i wonder if its possible to manipulate the 11iso drivers so it do install on 32bit cpu..... as the thread never mention it has to work without crashing if you try to use it.

I think you'd need the Windows source code and recompile it as 32-bit. That's what MS do for the 32-bit W10 :wink:

Yeah, but since win10 and 11 is more or less the same OS in its core.. It can be possible to extract win10 32bit drivers and some of its core components that is the same as win11 and then put them in to the 11iso.. it will most likely install, and it "might" even start.. but it will most likely + environment-taxes crash as soon you try to launch anything. *LOL*

It might or might not.. It is in theory possible to import 32bit drivers and the core components if you really dismantle the iso/wim files and rebuild the installer and its components.... But... the time.... is it worth even trying..... It has to be a really boring day with crap on TV and internet is down to put all that time in to something useless just to see if it works or not.

Yes all computers are restored to its OEM design with operating system and components etc (amount of Ram and so on) I have one Fujitsu P3 that should have been 667Mhz but the CPU had a broken pin and i could not repair it, so it has a 1000MHz CPU instead... Then i have a lot of CPU's laying around so i can upgrade or downgrade... So if i install on a P4 2.4GHz i can then put in a slower CPU just to make it start.

So that makes it unfair and i can cheat.

Edit:

But to contribute without cheating i can post a printscreen from 2021 when i made a how to guide in swedish of installing win11 on unsupported hardware.... It was installed for around 15 minutes to make all printscreens and then i wiped the test computer

It was a first gen i5.. so that is around 2010ish in hardware

I just made an Edit to my other post.
But i dont run win11 or win10 on any of my computers.. I plan on running Server 2022 as desktop OS as i hate OS's that builds on rolling releases.. that goes for Linux, windows, Mac.. rolling releases sucks as you never know if the computer will work after the next up-roll

I can’t beat you as far as oldest is concerned, and certainly not the slowest one!

Last night clean installed 23H2, activated with local account, updated used Rufus 4.3 for bootable USB, it had W10 PRO for more than two years having all the updates without problem

The oldest unit I have w/Windows 11 on it is a 2014 HP Probook 640 G1, intel i5-4300M @2.60 GHz x2, 12GB DDR3 RAM, TPM 1.2, OS build 22635.2771 Version 23H2, Windows 11 HOME

Microsoft allowed for the installation to run through the Windows insider program. I don't use it often, but when I do it works great for every day general use.

As an aside, I also have a 2007 xw4600 HP Workstation with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.40GHz x4 - 8GB DDR2 RAM, that's running Windows 10 Pro -- It's a beast (weighs 35 pounds)

last weekend, I did test Tiny Windows 11 on ASUS M2A-VM, a 17-yr-old desktop. clean install went through. got one yellow mark (driver missing). but PC running fine. myself didn't add any drivers (too old to dig out)
had to set MBR when using Rufus to make USB boot. for a PC 17 yrs old, GPT is no go.

now need to find a way to use this PC. it seems too slow even for internet surfing.
It was using 2GB DDR2 RAM. Its RAM has been upgraded onto 6GB (any DDR2 could be found). seemed no improvement. still slow.

I'm writing this on a modest AMD Athlon II X2 220 with an ATI Radeon HD 4200! More specially this a HP Pavilion P6000 Series from around 2009. I'm currently running Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.2792 (I believe its 23H2 just without the enablement package.)
