Canary basically works like the older Skip Ahead.

Still, no reason for 2 separate channels right now.
It will make sense when they release two separate Build numbers.

I don't think you will get a fix for that.
As I remember, I had to upgrade from an older build to get rid of that problem.

I had that for several builds of beta, then suddenly after one of the builds it went away — i.e. back to normal display!

I waited several builds, and I was never getting it fixed. I only had this problem with Canary.

I might be wrong but I think that MS is keeping the Window to downgrade from the Canary Build to the Dev builds open a little longer. It will change.

Here we go live resuming updates! (been paused and stuck since 26040) and it finds..... wait for it..... drum roll.....ahhh 26058 yet again and another build that wont install. Microsoft just dont seem bothered to fix the roll back bug, all there attention seems to be going on Bing and Copilot garbage. Looks like im finished here

Of course there needs to be two channels, so a user can be on whichever they prefer before the future divergence. There was a lot of fuss when people got moved without their agreement from Dev to Canary. This way, a user is in control.

It makes no sense to merge the channels - it would be more confusing than just says the two channels are running in parallel.

I still have a minor problem using StartAllBack with my dual Monitors. When I have the Taskbar at the top I can't open any programs full screen on the secondary monitor because the top of the program hides under the Taskbar. I didn't think about it before but I'm trying a work around. I unlocked the Taskbar and on my secondary monitor I moved it to the bottom. I'm going to do a restart and see what happens.

Notepad 11.2402.18.0 is now rolling out to WIP Canary. The settings page has been updated with a nice new animation, and there are now some sections (Text Formatting, Opening Notepad)

Windows Notepad will be getting spell check/autocorrect soon! Here are some toggles in the app's settings page:

In a way, I am rather anti these developments.

Notepad's charm was its simplicity, and we had wordpad for more complicated formatting.

In the end, Notepad will over time end up much like Wordpad.

I cannot see logic of removing wordpad and then developing some of its features in Notepad.

These developments are "Solutions to problems I never had"!

My work around survived a restart. Now my Taskbar is on top on monitor 1 and on the bottom on monitor 2.

Edit: it's not going to work. I tried with different programs and the bottoms are now hidden. I'm going back to hiding the Taskbar on the second monitor.

I am in the same situation. In Canary keeps 26058, that download, install... and rollback. Change to Dev channel and again 26080.1300, that, when try to download, stops the wuauserv service and get stucked in 0 or 1%.

I've tried with the UUP isos. The same (more or less). 26058 begin installation ok but performs rollback about 75%. The others (26080 and 26085), if let it search updates, closes the window in a a few seconds. If mark the "not now" checklist, check the computer, ok, appears the Terms of Use screen, and after the acceptance, check status to installation, and the window closes almost inmediately. Close Road.

You have mixed resolutions? Mine's a laptop screen 1920 at 125% to an HDMI 2560 at 100%. I've always had trouble with mixed resolutions! 4K's are even worse!

They don't have to merge anything, just stop updating Canary till they are ready with a new build #.

Sorry about the delay in replying, that was the Dev build with the issues nd I'd just rebooted to Canary and started its update. Had to wait for that to finish before I could test (and yes, Canary has exactly the same issues).

It's just affecting the boot menu at startup, Shift+Restart gets a perfectly normal Advance Startup menu - blue, fully functional, and the correct size. If you don't have any other boot options (such as another OS or Reflect added to the boot menu) then you'd never see this.

This seems to be hardware dependent, most machine don't have an issue. This is not the first time a Canary build has had a 'borked' boot menu on this particular (fully supported) device. Last time round the boot menu was completely black but still responded correctly to clicking on it (if you could guess where to click). The Advance Startup menu was also misbehaving, but not as badly. See this post of mine.....
