Windows 11: the right method to install driver?

Hi,

i have a question regarding install drivers on a clean install of Windows.

- it's better do a clean install, at the end go with Windows Update and wait update and drivers download
or
- it's better do a clean install, stay offline and download the last drivers and only after that, do windows update

What is the right method to obtain a perfect PC?

It's better to install before windows updates because those drivers from updates will be overridden anyway.
Windows update might still install some drivers regardless in addition or over your own drivers.

For this reason it's good idea to disable automatic driver installment from windows updates provided that you install latest manufacturer's drivers yourself, and then you also need to regularly check for updates of drivers on motherboard site yourself from time to time.

The whole purpose is that you want to make sure that no boogeyman drivers get ever installed.

1. Download the motherboard and vid card drivers first. Save them on a USB stick or similar.
2. Install Windows offline.
3. When install is done, install the motherboard drivers and then the vid card driver.
4. Do the registry tweak to stop drivers being included in Windows Updates.
5. Then rehook the internet and do the Windows Updates.
6. Make a full system backup.
7. Then start installing programs and doing the personalizations.
8. When you have things the way you like... make another full system backup.

and don't forget to use "metered internet connections"
