Microsoft is yet to announce an official release date for Windows 11 version 22H2, but I have heard via my own contacts that the current planned general availability date is set for September 20. This date could still change, but that's what I'm told Microsoft is aiming for as of right now. The launch build of version 22H2 will ship as build 22621.

Additionally, I hear that the company is planning to roll out its first "moment" update for version 22H2 before the end of this year, which will add a handful of additional features that weren't finalized in time for the launch build such as tabs in File Explorer and Suggested Actions. This is what Microsoft is testing with Windows Insiders running build 22622 right now.

As always, until these plans are officially announced, the dates mentioned here could slip. But this is the current plan.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Windows 11 2022 Update, much better and quite sensible. In respect to the release date, I noticed that the 20th is exactly a week after next month's patch Tuesday. I would not be surprised if it was released to RP on the 13th. The unknown is whether it will include FE tabs.

Debating if i'll clean install Windows 11 22H2 when final or not at this point, sure it doesn't take as long as it used to, but guess i'll decide for sure when its fully released via Media Creation tool.

Will see as well if Gigabyte has any uefi bios updates or driver updates for my board on the 19th or early on the 20th, then will determine for sure which way i'm going with this supported system

It was released to RP in May, been running it since then. I did a clean install recently using the 22621 ISO.

Update Aug 23: Microsoft removed "2022 Update" from the Get Started app.

it seems the "Windows 11 2022 Update" message no longer shows up in the Get Started app as of 8/23

Updates like this one usually mean a prelude to a larger update soon to come.
2022-8 seem to signify that new version should arrive shortly and will see rumored name change to 2022 instead of 22H2

I'm already running build 22H2 22622.598 -- I got the iso via UUPDUMP. I did a clean install and it worked perfectly. Not sure why I got the 622 version when some insiders even are still on the 621 build -- but the mysteries of Ms. !!

Also has the Windows experience thing -- whatever it does.

I do like though the decent set of tools in the Windows tools pane -- it basically is just the control panel but much better organised and tidied up. Also local user -- not using an Ms account.

Print management in particular is far simpler now than endless pictures of "default printers" etc etc.

Not sure when Windows tools were introduced -- the W10 ones were quite limited.I suspect though as it's TOO useful, Ms will no doubt remove it again. !!!

There are a lot of rumors that tomorrow (Sep 20th) will be the public release of Win 11 22H2.

Just wondering if anyone has actually heard anything official from Microsoft. The only thing official that I ever heard from them was that it would be released in September.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
