Those are pro-vax, there is also anti-vax. I know of 2 medical doctors in the latter league.

What I meant with compelling reasons is for example a high risk situation like travelling in a crowded airplane. Our risk situations are relatively low, like grocery shopping, and the pro vs con balance becomes '?'

What's your point? I remember in the late 1960s, 15 years after the definitive work of Doll and Hill, a cigarette smoking friend of mine telling me that his doctor was a smoker, and had told him that several of his doctor friends were also smokers. Not many doctors smoke now. Ironically my friend went on to be a leading light in ASH (action against smoking). My point (to be clear) is that doctors are not all specialists in immunology, and many don't have time to keep up to date - there are even some who have an axe to grind pushing alternatives.

You are right about relative risks for Covid, although I suspect the aircraft itself is safer than the airport concourse and departure gate.

Personally I have had 4 shots the last in April (I have a compromised immune system), and caught Covid (BA5) in June after a river cruise holiday in France. However, I have now recovered (partly, no doubt due to the vaccinations).

Well, everyone in my household has their 3 shots and I like to hear ALL opinions for and against a 4th shot, so keep posting!

I think it's now becoming clear that the current type of vaccination (RNA or traditional) is not going to prevent people catching covid, although it does significantly improve chances of survival when you do catch it. Newer developments in vaccinations might do better - we must await developments (and evidence). I very much distrust anyone who is telling people what to do about their own health. My feeling is that one does one's own research (being very careful about which sources to trust), and makes up one's own mind.

I agree to a certain extent, but two considerations, 1, other peoples decisions could affect me and 2, herd immunity So I think when deciding whether to have vaccinations or not people should think of others and the affect their decision has on them

I have had 4 shots now because of my immune system 2 x AZ, I x Pfizer and 1 x Moderna

I had my 4th at the end of March this year because of my age. All 4 have been the Pfizer and I've had no reaction to any of them.

I have had a right mixture of all four. I had my original Jab done in Salisbury Cathedral

I'm on the negative side of the Covid shot. I did get the J&J shot, but only because of my wife. A large number of people who have been vaccinated are getting Covid. How does one getting vaccinated protect others from getting Covid if they can still get it? IMHO, the shot, just like the Flu shot only helps your immune system fight off the virus. It doesn't prevent one from getting sick.

Mind you, I've never had such a strong reaction to a flu shot that I did with the last three covid vaccinations.

That is correct, It reduces the effects and the risk

Vaccine production is necessarily reactive, moreover the covid virus mutates really fast, new strains appear in 3 to 5 month intervals.

There is also the distinct issue that your antibodies fade over time

Does that mean that we need to get a shot in 3 to 5 month intervals?

I guess so but when our NHS sends out the booster reminder, it said it had to be 6 months after the last one

Maybe the 6 months is a measure for how fast vaccine production can adapt.

After I was diagnosed with leukaemia, I was advised by my consultant to always have the annual flu vaccine. That was 15 years ago. I also had one at university (a flu vaccine trial) when I was studying microbiology. So far I've had 4 Covid vaccinations, the third and fourth at six month intervals after the original course of two.

He'll be fine. He's had Paxlovid which stops the virus replicating within cells. It doesn't kill circulating virus, however. If you take it soon enough (and he will have been given it within hours), there will be so little virus in his system that his immune system will deal with it. There is a small chance of relapse in the week after you stop taking it, but it is rarely worse than a cold.
