Solved CCleaner Start

Useless? I dunno. I value it for the features I use:
Clears the caches of both my browsers and the TempIntFiles of the old Int Explorer, selectively erases my cookies, and empties several folders that accumulate trash every day. Helps me to catch leftover registry bits when I remove something from my PC. Lets me really easily monitor my daily restore points and the restore points thrown by updates and installs of various kinds.

Fast, and with a just couple of clicks.

Every time I open CCleaner, I get this annoying window: How can I put an end to this? I only get it on one of my three paid-for installations of CCleaner, and I'd prefer not to get it on any of them.

I have been using it for years too...
its just this is annoying me big time..
I use it to clean out Firefox cache and keep certain cookies.. while getting rid of the rest...

I just changed the .ini setting Melchior spotted from 2 to 1, and all it does is preserve your choice of whether to start with the Health Check (which I do not use, having used it a few times and had to repair a few things it messed up) screen or the Custom Clean screen when you first open the app. 1 is Health, 2 is Custom.

I switched back to CCleaner 5.87.9306 a while ago because it doesn't change, and leaves me alone.

Had the problem of the start screen coming back after a few reboot having set the reg hack. Got fed up with it so I deleted the entire key.
Now gone and no start screen, goes straight to custom clean and no after effects after removing the reg key. Been two days since I removed that key and lots of test reboots. If it comes back with any future program updates then it will be removed again.

There are Piriform keys and CCleaner keys in both HKCU and HKLM. And the (Cfg)Welcome Screen string value appears in only one (I forget which; haven’t seen it for a while). What, exactly, did you delete?

Removing the key form HKLM CCleaner also removes the CCleaner key in HKCU on my machine.

Home Screen in HKCU is still set at 2. My mistake as Welcome Screen does not appear in HKCU. I checked HKCU after I deleted Welcome Screen in HKLM. Sorry for the confusion.

A user called Tumasek at CC forum has proposed a less drastic solution than my general scorched-earth solution: Try changing the Welcome Screen value to 3 instead of 0. He says it's worked for him for some time.

(Let's be careful not to confuse Home Screen in the .ini file with WelcomeScreen in the CCleaner reg key.)

Tried that, lag on opening was chronic. Removing the key(again) and the lag has gone.

The registry tweak works for a moment... when I restart my PC it reverts back to the annoying welcome screen.

No, but the solution you provided previously (below) seems to work for me. Rebooted twice and the nagging ‘Welcome back’ screen is gone. Now it always starts up with the Custom Clean option, which is/was of my choosing.

Never mind my previous post. The tweaks suggested work if I restart my PC, but if I shut it down completely then start up again, the problem returns. So I now deleted (Cfg)WelcomeScreen in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner and I'll see if it gets rid of the nagging Welcome screen once and for all.
