Solved CCleaner Start

See my post #50 above. It appears that the developers have removed the screen, so the (Cfg)WelcomeScreen key is absolutely irrelevant now.
The screen was what they called "a test," and it fell flat, so it's "Gone, Baby, Gone!"

I'll bet big money that if you go into the reg and change that key value from 0 to 1 tonight, if you open CCleaner tomorrow, the Welcome Screen won't be there. It may be a rolling-out change, but I think it's rolling out fast.

It was not gone on my wife's NUC, but only I use CC on hers & not very often. But it may be, I will have to fire up that beast!

The latest version, 6.14.10584, got rid of that nagging Welcome screen.

Yep. I think you're right. It's history. Halle-damn-lujah! Now average users won't have to sweat about monkeying around with the registry to get rid of that curse. For once (!) the developers of CCleaner got it right.

Had to use a Macrium-backup , updated the CCleaner , now it cost me almost 5 minutes to start it up !
How (??) to solve it .........?
When deleting/renaming the DU.dll-file , the program starts very fast again , but then it gives me error-reports in the eventviewer , how to get rid of this ...........??

Possibility, trim the winapp2.ini. You can use just that function in CCEnhancer, or you can use it to dl latest .ini which can add extra cleaning options
Run CCEnhancer> Advanced> Trim winapp2.ini

When you updated, did you update over the last version?
If so, maybe when restoring with Macrium, some files were not where
they were supposed to be or got corrupted in the process.
I would uninstall completely and use a fresh copy from CCleaner's site.
You might wan to consider using Revo to uninstall.

Ok, but HOW(?) to get all my settings back , can I make a backup of the CCleaner settings ..............?

To backup, just right-click this key and Export.

Thanks , will try your advice , unistall and install again , with the backup-key .........
Why cant we all these driver-update keysset on "0" , I dont want driverupdates , this is the reason for the big delay of starting the CCleaner .
When deleting/renaming the DU.dll file , the program starts very fast , but with errors in the eventviewer !

OK, I won't tell you or ask you how you do your stuff on your PC
but, as a precaution, always create a restore point so you can access the OS the way it was
before you install or make changes to the OS.
I don't know if you know how too but, here is the way to do it. (pls do not cuss at me if you do know how )

Note: You can turn the driver updater off and avoid the errors if you edit the registry value for (Cfg)Driver Updater (see f14tomcat's screenshot above) in HKLM Software Piriform CCleaner. Its value is default set to 1, and you double-click on that value name and type 0 (zero, not O) in the pre-selected (blue) position. Click OK.
CCleaner may switch that value back to 1 after a few runs of CCleaner, so if you mark that value with a Favorites bookmark, you can get back there in a jiffy and reset it to 0. Just watch for CCleaner to start lagging again, and you'll know it has reverted the value from 0 to 1.
If it does come back, find your hosts file and edit it: Add the line
0.0.0.0 shepherd.ff.avast.com
to hosts, and CCleaner won't be able to call home for registry updating (and for a lot of other things you don't really want).

Someone else a while back showed me this. It's basically turning the main CCleaner into CClener Slim (not literally......).

Delete most everything in the Program File folder till all you have left is this, and the Driver junk and all the other junk will go away. Guess I could delete the 32bit and the update.exe, just didn't.

You're right, it runs perfectly with the extra deletions you mentioned in #77 above. This is how I run it, from the portable Free (but I have licenses; I just don't use them), with the fat trimmed as much as possible, and with the block in the hosts file. My HKCU Piriform .... key just has two values now, and the HKLM corresponding key only has four, and they're all harmless ones that just record my paths and last date of Update checking.

Here's what I mean: I probably wouldn't have the Updater GUID entry if I hadn't run CC once to make sure the updater couldn't work.
