Clean install, but avoiding same mistakes

That should give you enough room for Windows and probably the entire Library of Congress, too. :D


Before it arrives... come up with your partitioning plan.
It's always easier to... get it right the first time. :-)


I would probably have the entire Windows install on maybe a 1TB partition.
Then use the rest for storage and a place to install large programs and large games, etc.

i have my 1TB M2 NVMe SSD setup as 25% for C: drive the rest, 75%, set up as D: drive and have all the folders moved to that drive.
this way if anything happened to Windows on C: drive at least all my data and folders are safe on D: drive.

so its very good advice from Sam_Tether.

Storage is things like.... music, pics, movies, copies of installed programs, etc.

Large stuff is things like Photoshop, large games, etc. I always put them on a partition that doesn't contain Windows.
Then, when I make backups, they go really fast.

Just the BIG ones.
Some programs should be on the Windows partition.
Things like... drivers, ZIP programs, 3rd party antivirus (if used), Visual C++ Runtimes, (see screenshot below), etc.

The "trick" to happy Window-ing is keeping good backups, using 3rd parry backup software.
Save the backups on a drive that doesn't have Windows on it.

BEFORE you start "tweaking" get and learn to use 3rd party backup software.
Then... if you break something... just restore from your backup, and try, try again. 8-)
