windows 11 pro 24H2
Dear Experts,

after i used all the recommended dism commands and made a fresh inplace update of my 23H2 based system with success, i thought that i was ready for 24H2. But I failed.
Therefore, my next step was using a fresh downloaded 24H2 iso from MS mounted in the explorer and use CMD setup.exe /product server for installation (keeping my setup and files). Unfortunately, the update stopped without any error ID but with the notice that some driver or system files are not kompatible.
Now what to do to find out if there are any blocking reasons? I would highly appreciate if some expert is willing to take a look at attached setuperr.log and setupact.log and give me some advice.

Kind regards out of Germany

Norbert

have you tried making a bootable USB with Rufus.
then from explorer go to the USB drive and double click setup.exe

this will start an in place upgrade of the system but from the USB.
Rufus has some settings that you can configure before it burns the Windows ISO to the drive.

best of luck, Steve ..

Thanks for your response Steve, according to the use of Rufus, i think that would make sense, if i have no TPM or would like just a local account. But nevertheless I will give it a try.

You didn't answer: Did you disable or uninstall Avira before attempting to upgrade?

You have a compatible Win 11 computer. No need for Rufus or other workaround.
I can see that disk 0 is a Legacy-MBR drive and first partition is active. Does it has another OS on it?

Win11 won't install on an MBR drive. Win10 does, so if it's his boot drive, that needs to be addressed.

Regarding Rufus: I just uninstalled with the tool. I will try an update in a few minutes.
Regarding disk 0: Disk 0 was my former win 8 systemdrive (long ago). When remembering it correctly i have deactivate the former primary partition with diskpart.

Sure, but that´s not the boot drive as mentioned in my disks.txt file which is attached in the V2 log collector summary.

Hi XxXxX
I don’t see why he needs to make a USB just to run the installer. Mounting the iso and running setup.exe is just as good.

Regarding disk 0: Disk 0 was my former win 8 systemdrive (long ago). When remembering it correctly i have deactivate the former primary partition with diskpart.
A active partition means that it has a boot able OS. You should make it inactive.

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:

diskpart
select disk 0
list part (take note of the 63,49G partition number n- It should be nº1)
select part n (replace n with the number found above)
assign
inactive
exit (to exit diskpart)

I suggest you detach all other drives to make it simple as possible.

Run @zbook V2 log collector, Tuneup plus and upgrade_failure_info

The log files were in a non-English language and could not be scanned or read.

Please use the links in post #6 step #4 so that log files are in English.

As of 2025-04-13 16:54:41 Avira was still installed.

Please run the uninstaller again.

Will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks a lot

DISM looks clean. Can you please run SFC /scannow and post your cbs.log again?

Run @zbook V2 log collector, Tuneup plus and upgrade_failure_info
Again thanks a lot for your suggestions, but I was again not successful neither with an inactive partition nor with detached drives.

The best way not to waste any of your and my time would be to stopp this experiment and hopefully some day there will be a solution.

Take care and kind regards out of germany

Norbert

first off UEFI booting doesn't involve partition flags or boot sectors. Second, were you able to run "SFC /scannow?"
