I Cannot Boot Into Windows 11 On An ASUS Laptop PC's NVMe SSD After Removing And Reinstalling The Drive. Why?

2) yes, after you put the original stick back in, a clear CMOS would be nice but you likely can't take apart your laptop to do that, so setting default settings in BIOS is a minimum (Boot to BIOS, press F5 or whatever it says to set default settings. You may have to go to Boot, set default settings, save and reboot.
3) did you have the orig NVMe plugged into anything after you took it out of the laptop. If so, it has been modified from what ASUS expects. And we would need to restore a backup image which of course you took before you removed it from the laptop.

Hello krism! Nice to meet you. Answers:

1. Keep in mind the process regarding the WD SN770 cloning we're about a month ago now. My own recollection on the details with the WD SN770 cloning are vague now. In terms of what program I used to clone the original Windows 11 OS to the WD SN770 is vague. I used one of the hard drive partition software programs on the Hiren's Boot CD (USB flash drive created) to clone. Maybe AOEMI Partition Assistant I used? Not sure now. Hiren's has several means to clone with that package available. I did not indicate this yet regarding what I have done with the other WD SN770 as I figured it has nothing to do with this issue. I am just trying to get my original NVMe with Windows 11 on it working again with this ASUS PC.
2. Yes, with my original NVMe SSD re-inserted back in the slot I did that. I reset the BIOS/UEFI settings and saved them. There are no changes after the reset. ASUS still shows on the UEFI Dashboard at the bottom it says under Boot Priority, "Windows Boot Manager". This is the only entry, so it is the first one -- so it should boot into Windows 11. It does not.
3. No, I did not. The original NVMe SSD was placed in the WD SN770's case for safe keeping and protection with the Windows 11 on it. It was not altered.

Hello again. Now, I understand you -- regarding "legacy mode". Okay! With this ASUS PC, there is no option for legacy mode. This ASUS PC to my understanding is TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY UEFI/GPT ONLY! This ASUS PC was the first year generation not providing now legacy old BIOS/MBR any more I was told by ASUS tech support a while ago. I wish I had both options with this PC. ASUS did away with legacy mode with this PC. ASUS went full graphical now with UEFI too.

Sadly you have hardware problem then as if it's not UEFI mode that prevents detection check cable connection of the SDD.

Hello. Nice to meet you. No, I did not at the time -- either way -- placing the old with the new or later placing back the old NVMe. I mean the power was not on the PC, obviously at the time of exchange of the NVMe and the PC power cord was unplugged. I think the battery replacement/removal with this PC is a little complicated anyways. I did not figure on having to remove the battery at the time of NVMe exchanges. Online videos I watched of reputable techs never said to remove your battery when exchanging NVMe SSDs.

UEFI sees the drive but not Windows? It has a 12th Gen Intel CPU and I believe it needs the Intel RST driver for it to show in Windows. Maybe this driver has become corrupted? Shot in the dark here though.

Each to their own but I always disconnect the battery when doing any work inside a laptop, even when just upgrading ram.

I thin even BIOS not detecting the SSD as Diskpart not also.

Oh, I hope not! Geese! Hardware issue then. Let me ask you this then. Note: This did not happen with this issue, BUT say if I were able to successfully do by cloning a copy of my Windows 11 on the ORIGINAL NVMe SSD from say another external backup copy of Windows 11 (overwriting the original Windows 11 on the NVMe SSD), questions: 1. Would Windows 11 boot without any issues on this ASUS PC? 2. If there are issues with booting Windows 11, what typically is the remedy for a PC's (UEFI/GPT format only) to fix this Windows 11 boot issue? Your answers to my questions I would like to attempt to try. Thanks!

If it is true that this is the reason for this issue, how would you remedy it on an *already installed* Windows 11 on the original NVMe SSD by installing the needed drivers? I do not know how to do that other then at the time of Windows *clean installation* to add the drivers? What are the steps after the fact Windows 11 is already installed on the NVMe SSD? I mean the necessary drivers that are in the original NVMe should already been still on there from before (unless, by chance, they are indeed corrupted).

Unfortunately ASUS doesn't give you any details about BIOS settions so they probably don't want you in there.

Boot to post(power on self test) and press F2 to get into the BIOS and take a pic and we'll go from there. I have an Asus mobo and love it but you have to be self knowledgeable! Let's see what we can find. Can I ask where you bought this and if there is a warranty plan or something to get it fixed if it fails. Thanks!

    Been doing computers since '62(IBM 7070/4(just missed their 650!!!). Managed a bunch of 360's. My first PC I think was one of the RS puters (I tried them all), a commodore, an IBM PC w DOS 3.11, and others mainly DIY (COMPUTER SHOPPER!!!) w 95, 98, xp, vista, me, 7!!!, 8, 10!!!, and now, finally, 11.

Hi! I just want to add a photo that most of you likely have seen to bring to your attention. See attachment. The UEFI BIOS Dashboard shows under Boot Priority, "Windows Boot Manager" -- top, first, only position in priority order! So, then why does not Windows 11 Boot at startup??? Weird?

To answer your question, there is no message. It just boots back into the UEFI BIOS Dashboard when you power up this PC. There is no flash screen of any Windows 11 giving any appearance to show any presence of Windows 11 on this PC.
