Insider KB5014770 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22621.160 - June 13

UPDATE 7/5:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.160 (KB5014770) to the Beta Channel.

What’s new

File Explorer Tabs & Navigation Updates

To help you work across multiple locations at the same time, the title bar of File Explorer now has tabs. We’d love your feedback on which tabs features you’d like to see next.

File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.
File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.

File Explorer is also introducing a refreshed layout of the left navigation pane which makes it easy for you to navigate to folders that matter to you. The updated organization provides easy access to your pinned and frequently used folders (Quick access) and your OneDrive cloud profiles added to Windows. OneDrive cloud profiles reflect the user’s name associated with the account. Known Windows folders which are available by default in the navigation pane are no longer displayed under This PC to keep that view focused for your PC’s drives. When you navigate to folders syncing to OneDrive such as Documents, Pictures, etc., the address bar displays the correct path to help bring clarity when your folders are on the cloud vs when they are local to you.

[We are beginning to roll this feature out, so it isn’t available to all Insiders in the Beta Channel just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.]

FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Files, Folders, and Online Storage > File Explorer.

Known issues

[File Explorer]

  • The up arrow is misaligned in File Explorer tabs. This will be fixed in a future update.

About the Beta Channel

The Beta Channel will be the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post from last month that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

For me, something lower level, under the covers, is fixed in this build... WSA had been resetting often, sometimes a couple times per day.. Since I've installed .160 WSA has not reset one single time, on the third day now.
Welp, after 3 full days on .160, WSA just reset, womp wah.

the fullscreen optimization option that used to there in under Win10 settings/display/advance graphics option, is missing since Win11,
not seeing the 'Fullscreen optimization' option in settings, so asking, whether MSFT deferred that option from Windows 11 settings, or what?

here's a SS for reference

UPDATE: found it, it was not there in the first Win11 21H2 build 22000.xx branch, but since build 22557 & onwards, MSFT re-introduced this & changed the name of this option from fullscreen optimization to optimization for windows games, which is located under

Windows Settings/System/Display/Graphics/Change default Grahics settings

However, File Explorer keeps crashing when switching between tabs.
Any solution?

If you enable all 3 the configuration below you may have problems, I had to disable the 3rd one (SV2Navpane) on my build 25140 to avoid hanging.
It was hanging and crashing almost every time when trying to open an ISO file.
Failing less frequently on 22621.160, but still not good. 😢

If you type vivetool delconfig it will show the syntax.
Anyway:
vivetool queryconfig 36354489
will show the current state

vivetool delconfig 36354489 2
or
vivetool delconfig 36354489 0

Should do the delete you want.

deconfig or delconfig?
Try deleting also TIFE and see if the problem goes away.
Then queryconfig to see if they really gone.
You may have a separate issue. 🤷‍♂️

With only 39145991 (NWMTest1), there is no Tab in File Explorer after Restart.

With multi tabs opened, File Explorer always crash when I clicked on the first Tab.
So long as I don't clicked on first Tab, no crashing issue on 2nd and subsequent tabs.

You are saying that it works fine without Tabs but it fails with Tabs.
Sorry, I don't have that problem, it works fine for me with Tabs enabled, I only have a problem when the Navigation updates are enabled.

Unfortunately, it is possible that MS is enabling some other experimental features that could be conflicting with the ones that you enable manually.
Without knowing what other features are enabled in your machine, the results may be different.
MS is doing different testing in different machines without telling the users, so you never know what is going on unless you list all the hidden feature configuration files and compare with a machine that does not have the problems.
I never liked the way they do their A/B testing. We are just the Guinea pigs in their experiments. :ROFLMAO:

So what? That does not justify MS inconsistency and keeping the participating insider users in the dark.

I'm not an Insider at the moment. MS's lack of openness may be part of the reason.

When I was enrolled, I tried to avoid any feelings of entitlement.

You cannot upgrade from .105 (RP Channel Build) to .160 (Beta Channel Build) directly. You have to change from RP Channel to Beta Channel to first, then update to get .160 (Beta build)

Bro WU offered it to me on the beta channel.
Of course you get .160 on Beta, but not on RP.

Equally, you cannot get .105 in Beta.

They are mutually exclusive

So it is not possible to go from .105 to .160 without changing channels.

can anyone explain what is the new navigation panel on .160 that many are discussing here & that's probably causing the crash of the new TAB feature configured via vivetool?
