Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.598 and Build 22622.598 (KB5017390) to the Beta Channel.
  • Build 22622.598 = New features rolling out.
  • Build 22621.598 = New features off by default.
As a reminder, Insiders who landed in the group with new features turned off by default (Build 22621.xxxx) can check for updates and choose to install the update that will have features rolling out (Build 22622.xxx).

Changes and Improvements in Build 22622.598​

[Settings]​

  • For the time being, you will no longer be able to uninstall apps with inter-dependencies (e.g., Steam and gaming apps running on Steam) or repair Win32 apps under Settings > Apps > Installed apps. You will still be able to modify and uninstall Win32 apps without inter-dependencies.

Fixes in Build 22622.598​

[File Explorer]​

  • Fixed an issue leading to a small set of Insiders with “launch folder windows in a separate process” not being able to launch File Explorer in the last two flights due to an explorer.exe crash.
  • Fixed an issue where you couldn’t interact with the top part of File Explorer (with the address bar) when File Explorer was full screen (F11).
  • Fixed an issue where command bar items like copy, paste, and empty recycle bin may unexpectedly not be enabled when they should be.

Fixes for BOTH Build 22621.598 & Build 22622.598​

  • We fixed an issue that creates a duplicate print queue. Because of this, the original print queue stops working.
  • We fixed an issue that affects Roaming User Profiles. After you sign in or sign out, some of your settings are not restored.

Known issues​

[General]​

  • [NEW] Clicking the network icon on the Lock screen does not work and will crash the Lock screen and may require you to reboot to login. After logging in, you can switch between wireless networks as needed.

About the Beta Channel​

The Beta Channel will be the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

If you were one of the ones for which 22622.598 fixed the bugs in all of the previous builds that came after 22622.575, you would probably have no trouble understanding the existence of this build...;) We all own different hardware configurations, hence we often encounter differing bugs, etc. Your bugs will not be mine, and vice versa--except in those events where a bug is universal and everyone has it regardless of hardware.

This is so weird. Why is this in beta stage when the 22nd is an official rollout? Why is 22621.457 running parallel ? which will be official 22621.500 or 22621.600 ? and then you have 22H2 or 23H1 ? In my case they all upgrade with errors. Tabs don't always work issues with Hello for business (supposed to be only on Enterprise and I see it on a lot of Pro versions) And then the Office 16 300 events.

Agree the latest builds, the numerous issues strange so close to "release" Still seems like a product that's not too sure what it wants to be or what features will be in 22h1, 22h2, etc. The 300 error for now has stopped on my system, but I am running the beta version of Office, not too sure if this fixed it or a Windows update fixed it.

Doesn't really look that strange to me. Beta channel should be for testing things out, and when stable enough they get added to Release Preview. That RP channel seems stable enough for release now, albeit without some of the new features yet to get past their Beta testing.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

You should select now to be enrolled to leave. Also uninstall the enablement package if on 2262.598 so you get back on 22621.598.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

I don't I only have some visual c++ redistributables. I was never offered 22621, when I joined the beta July 24 it just updated me to 22622.

I wonder if it is because I did dism component cleanup /resetbase

going to try some macrium restores of old images and try and figure this out. Sigh.

I agree with you. But this is the first time in a long time that beta runs so close to a release.
As for RP like I said is has issues. Hello for business shouldn't be offered on any Pro versions and you can't disable it it creates issues with pin management. Also, some users reported after upgrade the KB was offered and got stuck in a loop.

I Didn't look what was on release today (lot's of work). Like I said, my 2 cents. ;-)
